Fox Terrier, Michael (Her-
bert) suddenly as a result of a
truck accident in Bayfield on
Saturday February 16, 1974.

Ross Marshall, a purebred
Holstein breeder from Kirkton,
has been named the Holstein-
Friesian Association of Canada
President for 1974. This is the
first time that a breeder from
Huron. County has been named
to the post.
Mr. Marshall, who operates a
Century Farm under the prefix
"Merl Acres", has deep roots in
the purebred Holstein business
since he took over the home
farm located at Lot 9, Con-
cession 13, Usborne Township
in 1936. His first purebred
Holstein was purchased in 1941
and he became a member of the
Holstein Association the

evening of St. Valentine's Day.
There were ten members, one
visitor, Mrs. Zeal, and the Rec-
tor, the Rev, George Youmatoff

Mrs, Edward Wise Was in
charge and gave a timely
reading, "Let there be Love."
Mrs. Dutot read the Scripture
lessons. Mrs. Wise continued
with the meditation and litany
as found in The Living
Message,,,The theme was
"Witness.
Following responsive
prayers, Mrs. Joseph Storey
gave the secretary's report and
Mrs. Edward Wise the finan-
cial statement
It was decided to make a
double-bed size quilt to be raf-
fled, Mrs. John W. Smith
reported for the cards and
flowers. The group was glad
to 'hear that the Rev. E.J.B.
Harrison has been able to leave
the Sarnia Hospital and return
to the Trillium Villa Nursing
Home.
Mrs. Edward Wise gave a
hilarious reading, "A Valentine
for Middle-agedMen", from the
London Free Press. Mrs.
Smith contributed "Hearts and
Flowers on St. Valentine's
Day".
It was decided to purchase
two card tables for the Sunday
School room. Mrs. Dutot con-
ducted a Valentine hidden
word contest, which was won
by Mrs. Stewart Middleton.
The Rector closed the
meeting with prayer, after
which the hostess served a
lovely lunch.

Flowers were placed in St.
James Church on Sunday last
to the Glory of God and in
loving memory of the late Mrs.
Arnold Miller of Goderich.
Mrs. Miller received an
honoraryo life membership ,in
the W.A. while a member of St.
James Church. The sympathy
of the community goes out to
her husband end family,
Immediately following mor-
ning prayer last Sunday, the
congregation enjoyed a hearty
pot-luck lunch in the Sunday
School room of St. James
Church, This was followed by
a meeting of the Board of
Management. Tentative plans
were made to hOld an Auction
Sale.as a summer project,
Card Party
The third in the series of pre-
Lenten card parties under the
auspices of the A.C.W. of St.
James Church was held last
Friday evening on the Sunday
School room. Mrs. Joseph
Storey was in charge of this
party and euchre was the order
of the evening.
The prize winners were:
ladies' high, Mrs. Wm. Brand;
men's high, Mr. John W.
Smith; Mrs. Youmatoff won
the ladies' low and Mr. Wm.
Brand the men's low. Mrs.
Wm. Dykstra won the prize for
the most lone hands and also
the birthday prize.
A draw was held on three
baskets of apples donated by
Stewart Middleton. The win-
ners were James Storey, Mrs.
Youmatoff and Mrs. Robert
Welsh.
A bountiful lunch concluded
a very pleasant social evening.

terest, He has been an active
member of the Kirkton United
Church serving as an elder,
steward, and Sunday School
teacher; he has served 25 years
on the Kiikton Community
Association Executive - five as
Chairman; he has been a Direc-
tor and/or Chairman of the
Usborne Township Federation
of Agriculture; 14 years as
Director and/or Chairman of
the Blanshard Municipal
Telephone System; 10 years as
a 4-H leader; Director of the
Huron County Holstein Club;
and Director of the Holstein-
Friesian Association of Canada
since 1961.
The Marshall family consists
of three girls and one boy.
Marilyn, Pat, and Iris are all
married while David is a
student at the University of
Guelph and hopeful of farming
upon completion. Marilyn lives
on a term near Clinton; Pat on
a farm near Exeter; and Iris is
presently studying medicine in
Toronto.
