The United Kingdom,
Australia, New Zealand and
European countries use it, The
Metric System is to be a

Legion news
BY GEORGE CAMPBELL
Owing to 'the way the
meetings are juggled from
November to. January things
seem to slow down at the
Legion. This is not actually a
fact as December proves quite
active,
The Christmas draw usually
creates a stir, and this past year
was no exception. A good tur-
nout of members made for a
good-time evening and many
prizes were won, Then NSw
Year's Eve was also a gala af-
fair, enjoyed by all.
Things really get settled by
the time the January meeting
arrives and this year the main
issue was the initiation of 11
associate members. Associate
members are sons and
daughters of Legion members
or deceased veterans and as we
initiated two in November, we
now have twelve associates
with many more still to come.
The Branch welcomes Rob
Brown, Brian Atkinson, John
Jr., David, Paul and Mike An-
stett, Dennis Bisback, Dianne
and Ron McKay, Bruce
Schoenhals, Roy Vodden Jr.,
Ted Wales, and Rick Frernlin
as associate members, and
hopes they enjoy it as their
porents have. Some day it will
be their job to handle Legion in
Clinton, we hope.
The Branch started a Share-
the-Wealth draw a p-
proximately six months ago
and much interest has been
shown to date. Last month%
winner was Harvey Hayter of
Varna. The next draw will take
place at the social February 23
when the music will be sup-
plied by The Country
Cavaliers. The socials are still
enjoyed by all who attend and
we are looking forward to
another good year.
The men's euchre nights are
also receiving much interest to
date and up to 14 tables enjoy
euchre to its fullest on Tuesday
nights,
Carnival is the biggest thing
in Clinton at the time of
writing and Clintonians can
sure have fun if they so wish.

The hardworking Women's
Auxiliary to the Clinton Public
Hospital are into the first of
their major fund-raising
projects for 1974, This will
take the form of a Dessert-
Coffee and Fashion Show inter-
spersed with the familiar music
from Dolly", to be held
at C,H.S.S. on February 13th. .
The fashion show is through
the courtesy of the Victorian
Inn Boutique; Stratford. The
Shadow Box Clinton, are
'creating the table centrepieces ,
which will be drawn for at the
close of the evening - there will
also be door prizes with the
compliments of the Victorian
Inn Boutique. An evening of
relaxation while you view the
upcoming in apparel. For fur-
ther details please see the ad-
vertisement on the entertain-
ment page of this week's paper.

The afternoon was taken up,

proceeded to take place, all at
the same time. Yes, you
guessed right, PAN-
DEMONIUM! A call to order
by the president!
' Members divided into two
teams, and a fast and furious
war of volleyball ensued. No
mention will be made of the'
winners. There are times when
one must stay,neutral.
Of course, you wonder what a
horse club membership is doing
playing volleyball. Well, old
Dobbin is semi-retired, with his
shoes removed. He is earning a
well deserved rest.
This will come to an abrupt
end soon. The new season of
shows is almost upon us.
If anyone wishes to join the
club, now is the time to do so.
The fun is just beginning. Con-
tact the president Mr. Doug
Riley at Seaforth 527-1059, or
any club member.
