Playhouse
sets dates
Dates for the 1974 summer
season at the Huron Country
Playhouse were announced
recently by Playhouse
Manager, ,James Murphy.
The Grand Bend resort
theatre will open its third
season on Wednesday, June 26,
two weeks earlier than in
previous years. As usual a new
play will be presented each
week for the eight-week season,
and each will open on Wed-
nesday and will run for the
remainder of the week.
Although no plays are set yet,
the season will include Broad-
way and West End hit
comedies and musicals, and
may include the premiere of a
new Canadian comedy. '
The 1974 Festival of Summer
Theatre will again be presented
in a large theatre tent situated
at the Playhouse farm site
location on' the Stephen B Line,
one mile from Highway 83, just
two miles from the Village of
Grand Bend.
Benson Tuckey, Chairman,
Board of Trustees has announ-
ced that the annual meeting
will be held on Saturday,
February 9, at 1 p.m. at the
Green Forest Lodge, Grand
Bend.
The parents of members of
the Clinton Centennial Band
elected a committee last Thur-
sday in Clinton. The committee,
will look after funding ad-
ministration and finances of
the band,
Ben Bridges was picked
chairman; Mrs. Pat Bridges
was named treasurer and Mrs.
Don Symons was elected
secretary. On contributions
committee are Mrs. Gary Haak
of RR 2, Clinton, and William
Hem and Harold Wise, both of
Clinton.
The preliminaries to the
Clinton Winter Carnival have
proved to be a source of fun as
well as creative activity for
many students of .Clinton's,
three elementary schools and
the neighbouring schools of
Holmesville, Hullett and
Huron Centennial.
A picture- and poster contest
advertising the Winter Car-
nival • met with enthusiastic
response and gave the judges a
real challenge in picking the
best.
Mrs. Bev Williscraft and
Mrs. Nancy Wise of the Sarah
Hale Chapter, I.O.D,E. judged
the picture contest, while. Mrs.
Rosaniond Garrett, Mrs. Freda
Slade and Mrs. Grace Watson
of the Clinton Chapter Order of
the Eastern Star officiated in
the poster judging. '
