An interesting note -game to Town Talk from - Mr. Ron- Rudd, the husband -of your for- titer columnist, now stationed at :CF/3. Borden, He writea that some time ago l Town Talk had .a piece about the name "`Clinton". An interesting ad- dition has come to light. There a Clinton in and some names prominent in that Clin- ton'a history parallel names in the Ontario 'Clinton" records. William Whitehead, farmer and cooper settled in the Clin- ton, P.E.I. area in 1821. James Whitehead, farmer, settled in the same year. William Rat- tenbury ani Robert Fitzsimons • are also names associated with that .area. Another curious coincidence occurred in • October when Margaret and Ron. travelled by bus from Calgary to Van, couver,- a man and his wife from near , Clinton, New Zealand were on the same bus. * * * Rev. and Mrs, Robert Put- man and son have returned to their home in Pincher Creek, Alberta, after having spent two weeks with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Putman of King Street, Clinton and Mrs. Putman's parents in Kitchener. * * * Card parties are in full swing two of which we can report on here. Re will be returning in mid February bringing with bhp two or three containers, about the size of railway box cars, full of antiques and brie-a-brac. * * We' are told that there is room in the Clinton Brownie Pack for any girls between the ages of 7 and 10 who wish to join. , Brownie life is full of fun and activity as those who now belong can testify. The Town pack is looking forward to par- ticipating in the Winter Car- nival Parade and also will be celebrating the birthday of the founder of the movement, Lord Baden-Powell, with .4 church parade to Wesley-Willis United Church on February 23. News of the Brownies •brings to the mind of your writer the en- thusiasm with which she joined a pack (some?? many??) years ago, and in writing home from boarding school to tell of this new adventure, informed her family that she had been "unrolled" as a Brownie, * * * When the results of the Goderich Canadian Legion 50- 50 draw were announced for the month of January, lady luck came a little closer to him: 1st prize to Robert Sem- ple, RR5 Clinton - $1,349; 2nd Danny Abbott, Goderich $200; 3rd Dan Worthy, Goderich $50. Seller of the winning ticket was John Bedour, The next draw will take place February 28th, and a list of the ticket outlets will be found in an ad- vertisement elsewhere in this paper.
