TAKE NOTICE that the Municipal
Council of the. Corporation of the
Township of Stanley has passed the
following By-Law to authorize the
stopping up and closing of part of
the Roadway between Concessions 4'
and 5, in -the Township of Stanley,
in the County of Huron.
WHEREAS pursuant to the
provisions of the Municipal Act,
Chapter 284, Section 338, 443, Item
(7), 461,1temi (1) and (2), R.S.O.,
1970, the Council of a local
moniciPality may pass by-laws to
sell or convey land, and- for the
stopping up and closing of streets or
portions of streets in a mimicipality
and conveying the fee therein to the
abutting land owners,
AND WHEREAS the Cor-
poration of the Township of Stanley
has agreed to stop up and close that
part cif the Roadway between Con-
cessions 4 and 5, in the Township of
Stanley, and more, particularly
described in Schedule "A" to this
by-law,
NOW THEREFORE the
Municipal Council of the Cor-
poration of the Township of Stanley
enact.; as follows:
1. That the portion of the' Road-
way between Concessions 4 and 5 as
more particularly described in
Schedule "A" of' this by-law be and
the same is topped up and closed
and the fee in the same shall be
conveyed to the abutting land
owners. '
2. That notice of the proposed by-
law shall be published once a week
for four successive weeks in the
Clinton News-Record and the
Goderich Signal-Star, newspapers
published at the Towns of Clinton
and Goderich, respectively, com-
mencing on the 17th day of January,
1974.
3, That said notice shall provide
that at the expiration of the said
fourth publishing, the Council shall
hear in person or by ,his Counsel,
Solicitor, or Agent, any person who
claiins .that his land wilt 'be
prejudicially affected by the by-law
and who applies to be heard.

Robinson was a summer resident of

year. Beloved wife of Donald
Doucette. Also surviving are two,

Edna Laura McDonald of
Huronview and formerly of
Hullett Township, passed away,
at Huronview on January 20,
1974, She was B5,
Mrs. McDonald was born the
former Edna Laura Hudie in
Goderich Township on August
3, 1888, Shewas a daughter of
the late John and Elizabeth
Hudie, •
McDonald and the couple lived
in Goderich Township and in
Hullett Township for 40 years.
Mr. McDonald predeceased her
in 1959.
She is sutvived by two sons,
Fred of Clinton and Gordon of
R.R. 4 Clinton; one daughter,
Mrs. Wilfred (Edna) Denomme
of Goderich; ten grandchildren;
five great-grandchildren; and
two brothers, Alfred and Fred
Hudie, both of Clinton.
Funeral services were held
from the Beattie Funeral Home
in Clinton on January 22,
1974,with Rev. G. L. Royal of
St. Andrew's Presbyterian
Church in charge. Interment
was in Clinton Cemetery.

SUNDAY SCHOOL STAFF
The Sunday School staff met
on Monday evening, for their
January meeting. A very en-
joyable pot luck supper was en,
joyed by the staff and their
families.
It was decided that the
junior and senior staff would
be in charge of the promotional
service this year and the kin-
'dergarten and primary staff
members in charge of the-White
Gift seritice. They also decided
to hold ,their annual croquinole
party, to raise money for Sun-
day School projector.
The Sunday School will also
have a special "Hungry
Children. Gift Fund" project
during Lent when the students
will sacrifice something during
the Lenton Period and place
the equivalent in their 'pop-
can' bank and bring it for the
special project. The first Sun-
day of Lent was set aside for
'Missions Sunday'..
• MEL OLIVER DIES
Mr. Mel Oliver, a resident of
the village, passed away on
Thursday January 17 in
Huronview. He was 89. The
late Mr. Oliver rested at the
Ball Funeral Home in Clinton
where services were conducted'
by Rev, Stan McDonald on
January 18, 1974, He is sur-
vived by one daughter and four
sons. Sympathy is extended to
his family.

Shown looking over an educational and fund raising
display at the 1974 Campaign Conference are Alice Gar-
ner of Elora and Ina Durst of Clinton. The Conference, an -•
annual affair, was held this year at the Inn on the Park
Toronto, Volunteer workers from all over Ontario gathered
to receive instruction and to prepare for the Canadian
Cancer Society campaign which is held each year in April.
In the southwestern district workshops, which Wound-up
the conference on Sunday, Howard Aitken of the News-
Record staff made a presentation on publicity.
