An ice-coated branch fell from a tree Sunday afternoon and
pierced the windshield and dash of a car owned by Lucien
Bellefieur of High Street in Clinton and caused an estimated
$250 damage. No one was injured in the mishap. Thousands
of other branches fell in the. Clinton area on Sunday, disrup;•

MINOR HOCKEY WEEK IN CANADA
WHEREAS, the week of January' 21st is being observed throughout Canada as a period to
focus public attention on the physical, character-building and other benefits of hockey
for our , youth, and
WHEREAS, the game of hockey is recognized as Canada's National Game which teaches our
youth to develop' a competitive spirit, co-operation with others, body-building, and
respect for authority, and ,
WHEREAS, it is the hope of every municipality to develop one or more players capable of
representing Canada as a member of Canada"s National Team, and
WHEREAS the Minor Hockey Association in this community has earned the commendation
and support of every citizen; and
WHEREAS Minor Hockey is the

the Happy Hookers with 4 each
and the Swinging Mamas with
3. Ruth Ddugherty and Mary
Davey shared the high singles
honors with 318 each, while
Mary had both the high triple
of 755 and the high average of
219.
In the Ladies' Afternoon
•League, the Pole Cats are still
way out front with 78 points,
followed at a distance by the
Alley Cats with 55, the Tom
Cats with 34 and the Bob Cats
with 29. Betty Hall had the
high single of 268, while she
shared the high triple of 648
with Pat Mann. Gerry Harris
had the high average of 231.
The Odds-N-Ends continue
to dominate the Clinton Mixed
League. Last week they had
collected 80 points, ahead of
the Dead Beaters who have 70,
the Dumbells with 61, the
Lonely Rangers with 53, the

The Crown Junior League is
still providing plenty of ex-
citement with all 12 teams still
in contention. This week, the

closely by the Aristocats and
the Strike Outs with 53 each,
the Alley Crackers with 49, the
Super Strikers with 48, the
Head Pins with 47, the Spares
and the Alley Cats with 46
each, the Pin Spots with 44,
the Tigers and the Weeping
Willows with 41 each and the
Rolling Pins with 37, Brenda
Ball had both the girls' high
single of 203 and the high
double of 363. Rob Knights'
had both the boys' high single

In the Wil-Dex Bowling
League, the Ferrotics are still

followed by the Precisions with

Nellie Burkholder swept all the
women's honors with the high

The annual congregational
meeting of the Milted Church
was held last Wednesday
evening with the pastor, Rev.
Murdock Morrison in charge.
Good reports were given by
the session and the treasurer
reported all expenses paid and
a balance on hand..
Reports Were also heard from
the United Church Women,
sunday school and vacation
bible school.
It was decided to again send
the United Church Observer to
every family. Ivan McClymont
will be the delegate to the
Presbytery for the next two
years,
