The time has come around
again for doubtful products to
be peddled to gullible farmers.
The Huron County Federation
Of Agriculture issues a warning
to all farmers to beware of
claims of great savings to be
had, by substituting new "won-
der products" for tested and
proven methods.
Last year it was the door to

maybe he is still at it. Now we
hear about a new wonder fer-

Feed analysis is free by Most

The last series of pre-natal
classes held held in October and
November in Clinton were
quite successful. . average of
10 mothers-to-be :0W-10d the
Series, six evenings, two hours
each night. Fathers were en-
couraged to attend well.
The first, evening was taken
up with regietratien (no fee is
required), getting to know one
another and a review of the
anatomy of the reproduction
system, followed by discussion.
The teacher, Mrs, Gwen Scott,
asked the parents what they
wanted to gain from these
classes so she could best meet
their needs and make the
-classes a beneficial experience
for them,
Some of the highlights of the
classes included presentation
and discussion .of labor and
delivery, a film on care. of ,the
new born, including the baby
bath, formula preparation, and
a film and discussion on breast
feeding, and care of the mother
during her pregnancy and in
the postpartam period as well,
At tendance ...swells at pre-:iota' classes-,
Mutch gave the treasurer's
report.
Following this, annual
reports were received and the
slate of officers for 1974 was
read and accepted.
Plans for the early part of
1974 were discussed and it was
agreed to have the annual rum-
mage sale on Saturday, March
.30, and to cater for a wedding
dinner in early April.
The meeting closed by
repeating the Mizpah Benedic-
tion in unison and a social time
was spent over coffee,
family, Of course, a big portion
of the classes was spent doing
pre and post-natal exercises,
Some of •these exercises are
beneficial in natural childbirth,
A tour of the obstetric's floor
of the Clinton public Hospital
was included towards the end
of the series. Some of the
Health Ue.,th services were ex-
plained to the parents - the
public health, nurse's visit to
the mother and baby while in
hospital and the follow-up visit ,
when the two get home and
also the regular Child Health
Clinic were explained telling
the parents that they could
bring the child to be weighed,
receive developmental
screening, immunization, coun-
selling on care of the child,
testing for anemia and when
the child gets older he may
receive the fluoride brushing,
hearing and vision testing,
Refreshments were served at
each class. Upon completion of
the series, the parents felt that
the classes were quite beneficial
and informative. Also, it gave
them a chance to socialize with
the others, and discuss mutual
problems, Some planned to at-
tend the next series where
possible, to keep up with the
exercises and since no two
series are exactly alike, they
would gain new views through
discussion. One mother, a few
.weeks after the series had
finished, experienced airplane
sickness and found that the
breathing exercises she had
learned helped her feel better.
Studies have shown that
mothers who attend pre-natal

classes have less complications
in both the pre-natal and post-
natal period. This especially
applies to those mothers who
are awaiting their first child or
where there is a wide gap bet-
ween this child and the one
preceding. All mothers have
post-partum needs revolving
around the management of the
new baby and it is found that
those who have attended the
classes adjust better
emotionally,
