r., This week marks the opening of the Clinton Reereplion
COminittee's Sixth Annual Bantam Hockey Tournament.
The event runs Thursday'to Slinday this week and Friday,
Sat., and Sun. of next week.
Have a glance at the ad that appears in this issue for com-
plete details and make sure to take in thiSgv,ent. It promises
good hockey and lots of excitement.
The Clinton Bantam team plays Fort Henry Heights of
Kingston, Ont. this Saturday night in the opening round of
class 'C' competition. Come out and support , your team; it
will be appreciated.
Winter Carnival plans are coming along very well. The
program this year is new and' innovative with many ad-
ditions to the schedule. Here's hats- off to the carnival com-
mittee for an excellent job to this point. Let's just hope the
snowy weather keeps up,
Thursday night has been set aside for basketball at the
high school. Ken Reedy is in charge and extends an in-
vitation to adults in the community to participate. The
program will help develop your .fitness as well as providing
enjoyment from playing the game. If you are interested then
give me a call at the arena.
Wednesday night at the high school is badminton. This is
a club, so if you wish to join you're not. too late. Call us if

Te Clinton. Mustangs have
dropped into the lowest
position that they've been all
year, but remain one point
behind the Exeter Hawks and
two behind Mitchell. However,
Clinton has played six fewer
games than Exeter and two
fewer than any other team in
the league.
The Mustangs dropped a
close 5-4 game at the hands of
Exeter in a game which was
poorly officiated by referrees

In the last three out of four
games in pee-wee/bantam
house league on Saturday after-
noon, the cellar dwelling
Canadians have been swamped
by their opposition. Quite ob-
viously an imbalance exists as
statisticswise in the past four
games, 32 goals have' been
scored against them while only
netting a total of seven goals
for their efforts. Their • op-
ponents this time were the
Flyers who ran up a 9 to 1 score
without any opponent problem.A
In the other game, the Leaf'S
faced-off against the Sabres
and came away with a 4 to 0
victory to hold down first place
in League standings. However,

On Sunday night in Clinton,
the 'Stangs bombarded the
Tavistock Braves 9-2 in an easy
game. Randy Mcqinchy and
Brian Kennedy scored two
goals each, The Mustangs had
an 8-0 lead after two periods on

Randy Millar,
In the third period, Tavistock
scored goals by Duane
Gingerich and Lyle Rozendal to
make it 8.2 while Bill Irwin
scored the ninth Clinton goal to
close the scoring.

wins, 1 tie, 6 losses, 5 points.

There continues to be great
excitement in the Crown Junior
League as four teams are in the
thick of the battle for first
place. Currently, the Aristocats
and the Corner Pins are tied
for top spot with 46 points
each, followed closely by the

Alley Crackers with 43. Next
come the Pin Spots with 40, the
Head Pins,' the Alley Cats and
the Super Strikers with 39

Snowmobile Club elected Bill
Chowen of RR 3, Clinton to
head the club for the next two
years, when they had a meeting
in the Clinton Town Hall last
week.
Case Buffinga of Clinton was
elected vice-president and
Dianne Freeman of Clinton
was named secretary-treasurer.
Five directors were picked, they
include Barry Young, Ray Pot-
ter, Harold Wise and Lloyd
Howatt,, all of Clinton and

Friday night in Mitchell at 8

Sunday Jan. '20 at 8 p.m,
against Tavistock.
In an article in last week's
paper, Mr. Bill Counter stated
that I had, written false
statements the previous week.
This is completely false!
However the headline was in-
correct but was not written by
me.
The original headline was
changed by the editor James
Fitzgerald. As far as any
animosity existing between the
two organizations, it is strictly
Mr. Counter's own opinion that
there is none. At the moment
the decision is being left with
the boys and their parents of
which it should have been.
It would be greatly ap-
preciated that Mr. Counter
please read the article in
question carefull3r before
passing a judgment that I had
written false statements. His
article of Jan, 3/74 is only his
own opinion of which every per-
son has the right to,
Mayor's daughter
in "hot" car
Fire last Saturday afternoon
gutted a car owned by Clinton
Mayor Symons of Raglan
Street.
The 1966 model car was
being driven by the Symons'
daughter, Barbara, at the time
the car suddenly caught fire.
Clinton fire chief said he
could not pinpoint the cause
but estimated damage at about
$700.
Tigers with 36, the Weeping
Willows with 34 and the
Rolling Pins with 32, Lynn Ar-
mstrong had both the bantam
girls' high single of 138 and the
high double of 246, while Jane
Symons ha'd both the junior
girls' high single of 275 and the

high single of 222, while Ken
Hart had the high double of
374. Rob Knights had both the
junior boys' high single of 216

The FerrcitiCs continue their
iron hold on first place in the
Wil-Dex Bowling League with
an accumulation of 68 points,
followed by the Precisions with
59, the Diamonds with 58 and
the Chipbreakers with 56.
Marie Van Damme had the
ladies' high single of 219, while
Nellie Burkholder had both the
high triple of 602 and the high
average of 189. Mike Stinnissen
swept all the men's honors with
the. high single of 292, the high
triple of 719 and the high
average of 200.

The Club made plans at the
meeting for their participation
in Winter Carnival this year
from February Ito 10. The Club
will kick off the Carnival with
a giant torchlight parade
around town and will alio run
some snowmobile rodeo events.
The Club also decided to
have a snowmobile run this
coming Sunday January 13,
Those interested, and one need
not belong to the Club,.should
meet at the Clinton Sales Barn
at 1 p.m.
The Clinton Fish and Game
Bantams continued their win-
ning ways on the weekend
when they dumped Goderich 4-
1 last Saturday night,and then
travelled to Watford where
they swamped Woodhaven,
Michigan by a 12-0 count.
In the game last Saturday
night, Clinton and Goderich
were at a scoreless draw after
the first two periods. Clinton
erupted for four goals in the
final frame.
Clinton scorers were Peter
Tho-npson with two, and Allan
Taylor and. John McMahon,
each with singles. Steve Jones
picked up two assists, while
Robert Heard, John McMahon,
Dan Proctor and Allan Taylor
helped on the others.
Last Sunday, the Clinton
bantams showed their
superiority in the first round of
Silver Stick play in Watford as
they dumped Woodhaven, a
suburb of Detroit, 12-0.
David Bird and Derok Divok
shared the shutout as the rest
of the Clinton team peppered
the American team. Allan

In the first game of Atom
House League last Saturday,
the Bruins and the Blues
played to a 3-3 tie. Scoring for
the Bruins were Jeff Taylor,
Phil Cornish and Mike Woods:
The Blue's goals were scored
by Tony Gibbings, David Lobb
and Darrell Postill.
In the second game, the
Canadians defeated the Leafs
3-1. ThP Canadians' goals were
one assist; Peter Thompson got
one goal and three assists; and
Dan Proctor got one goal and
two assists,
Single goals went to Paul
Galachuck, Marvin Merner,
while Bill Roy, Steve Camp-
bell, John McMahon and
Richard Carter picked up two
assists each. Ray Wheeler
helped on one goal.
The Clinton bantams are en-
tered in the Clinton Bantam
Hockey Tournament this
weekend and play their first
game Saturday night against
Fort Henry, Should they win,
they play again. Sunday mor-
ning.
To keep things busy for the
boys, they have to travel to
Watford Sunday afternoon for
a 5:45 p.m. game against either
St. Clair Shores or Point Ed-
ward.
To gain the Huronia Trophy
at Arthur on December 30, the
local bantams beat Uxbridge 6-
2, edged Delhi 5-4 and blanked
Goderich 4-0 in the final.
Captain Robert Heard of the
Clinton team was picked the
Most Valuable Player of the
game.

Mustangs drop into fourth
Following two decisive losses
last weekend, the Clinton Colts
have found themselves in
fourth place in the W.O.A.A.
southern loop behind Milver-
ton, Harriston and Lucknow.
The Colts record stands, at six
wins, eight losses and two ties,
Milverton's Jim Rapp scored
three goals in a span of 29
seconds to help his team crush
the Colts 7-3 last Friday in
Clinton. Rapp's outburSt. oc-
curred in the first period after
Greg Burns had opened the
scoring for the Colts on a
beautiful two-way passing play
with Don MacDougall.
The other Colt' goals were
scored by Butch Fleet and Ar-
chie Pickett. Milverton out-
played the Colts in the first,and
third frames while the Colts
"owned" the second period in
territorial play.
Saturday night in Lucknow,
the Colts came out flat and the
result was a 10-4 trouncing by
the third place Sepoys.
The Colts, who were widely
outshot, trailed 3-1 after the
first period and 7-2 after the
second. Netting the twine for
the Colts were Rick Fremlin,
Joe Livermore, Greg Burns and
Stu Mustard, playing his first
game in a Colt uniform,
The Colts play this Friday
night in Milverton against the
Four-Wheel Drives at 8:30 p.m.
