Reindeer on snow adorned tables, and other festive touches were on display throughout the house. She had some really nifty decorations when I was a kid, and I think that’s what inspired my collection. I love snow — to look at, that is — and even now as a grown woman, will often, with the dog as an excuse, go outside to play in it. About five years ago I started collecting snowpeople. I’ve just always thought they were cute and now have about 27. Then I saw a Santa I liked and that has brought another 16 of those into the house. As flakes begin to fall and thoughts of Christmas come to mind, I drag out the boxes and begin the seasonal transformation of my livingroom and hallway. I got my husband to build some shelves for me this year to help with the display. I usually begin creating my indoor winter wonderland in mid- November and the Santas go back into hiding in the new year. The snowmen, inspired by my past, I like to hang onto just a little longer. They often remain on display until February. Though I make sure to get them packed away before the first thaw! PAGE 30. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2008.
