What is your favourite Christ- mas movie/television show and why? “I like Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer. I like the new one though, not the old one. I think I like it because his nose is bright and red and shiny. It’s funny too.” - Grace “I like any shows about Santa. I like Rudolph and Frosty though too. I only like the funny ones though.” - Alex “I like Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer because of the red nose. Rudolph goes to the North Pole to see Santa and the elves in that one.” - Dakota “I like the Scooby Doo show. He goes sledding in it and he was being chased by someone, but then he gets away. It’s exciting too, because then Scooby chases Santa.” - Mackenzie “I like this Christmas DVD I have that has Santa and Jack Frost in it. I watch it every night. There’s a little girl in it and she gets picked up by Santa’s sleigh. Then Santa takes her into his houseand shows her his snowglobe collec-tion.I like it because it’s good and it’sfunny too. I like the girl in it though too.” - Kesler “I have two younger sisters and we always watch the Alvin And The Chipmunks Christmas show. That’s the one where the Christmas tree gets chopped down by a saw. After that they go into the city because they’re worried that Santa isn’t going to come.” - Patrick “I like this alien show that has Christmas parts, so I don’t know if that counts. The aliens turn into elves and then there’s evil guys who command them and transform back into aliens and at the end there’s a big snowball fight.” - Hunter“I like the Garfield Christmasshow. I like Garfield because of allthe funny things he does. I usuallywatch it on Christmas with my fam- ily.” - Travis “I don’t really have one, but I like anything that has Santa in it.” - Hayden “I like the Grinch. He was the one that wanted to take over Christmas. I think it’s funny, I like the part where he wraps the girl up in the Christmas paper.” - Jaida “I like Arthur’s Christmas. There is something funny about it, even though Arthur is going to school. D.W. is there, but she mostly just makes fun of Arthur.” - Mackenzie PAGE 18. THE CITIZEN,WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 24, 2008.East Wawanosh Grade 1s make TV picks (NC)—With all the festivities that take place over the holiday season, it's no wonder that time-starved hosts often opt for a casual potluck party. While this type of entertaining creates a great, relaxed vibe, it does mean that guests must do some leg- work beyond deciding what to wear! “What to make and how to get it there are guests' top concerns when attending a potluck party,” says Jennifer Murphy, associate product manager for Pyrex. “With some pre- party planning and the right bake- ware, you can ensure that your con- tribution is delicious and makes it safely to the party!” Murphy offers these additional tips for potluck partygoers: • Ask the hosts what type of dish to bring so they can make certain that every type of dish – from appetizer to entrée to dessert – is offered at their party. • Shop for your contribution in advance so that you will have all the necessary ingredients on hand and can prepare your dish with time to spare. • To get your dish to the party safe- ly, use a sturdy container. • Be sure to highlight ingredients in your dish, like nuts and shellfish, which may cause food allergies. • Consider creating recipe cards to place beside your dish – that way other guests can try your dish at home. • If you can bear to part with it, consider leaving your bakeware for the host – it will make a much- appreciated hostess gift.
