(Vicky Bremner photo) Novice Reps play Drayton The Blyth Novice Bulldog Reps hosted the Drayton team on Saturday, Dec. 20. Blyth played a solid game skating hard, and challenging the Drayton team. Drayton scored two in the first, with Drew VanWyk cutting the lead to one with an unassisted goal. Drayton then scored, both in the second and third, to take the win with a final score of 4-1. Novice fall to Seaforth. Thursday night saw the Novice Rep team take on Seaforth. Blyth played a strong game, but came up short in the end. Seaforth opened the scoring in the first with about four minutes remaining. On the next shift Blyth's Carson Richmond scored Blyth's first goal of the game. Richmond then scored again almost immediately later to take the lead. Seaforth would tie it up before the end of the first. The second saw many chances by both teams and both goalies stopped them all. Heading into the third, the game was tied 2-2. Seaforth then snuck one past goalie, Bailey Bos, to take the lead for good. Blyth skated hard and tried their best attempting to tie it up again, but came up one short. The Blyth Atom Reps were defeated by Listowel, Dec. 20. The scoring was started in the first by Blyth’s Hunter Dale with a poke of the puck into the net. Justin Rodger helped with this goal. The second period saw no goals scored by Blyth, but Listowel scored two to gain the lead. The third period was a little better in the scoring end for Blyth, but Listowel also came out to score. Dawson Coultes had a beautiful shot to the net and scored. The second and final goal for Blyth of the period was scored by Dale with another poke into the net, with assistance fromRodger and Jeffrey Gordon. With the regular goalie absent, Brendan Howson was sent between the pipes and made many great saves to keep the score at a minimum. The Atom Reps were defeated in Zurich on a snowy Sunday night with a score of 6-3. The boys started off well with each team scoring one goal in the first. Blyth’s goal was scored by Howson, assisted by Hunter Dale. The boys were a little slow in the second scoring no goals, but Zurich got in five. The third period proved to be a little better with two goals being scored by Brandon Marshall and Dale with the assistance of Howson, Coultes and Owen Weber. Blyth hosted Clifford on Dece. 10. Blyth started the scoringin the first period with two goals. Scoring was Rodger, with assistance by Drew Bromley and Howson assisted by Marshall. Clifford came back with one in the second. The third period the boyshad regained their composure and the lone goal of the period was scored by Dale assisted by Rodger. Wishing everyone all the best this holiday season. Josh VanSoest led the team’s offence scoring two goals in the first and singles in the second, and third. Curtis Raynard chipped in with two goals of his own. Rounding out the scoring was Robbie Gordon with one. Assists for the night went to Trystan Weber with two. Dallas Coultes, Raynard and Gordon each with one. Goalie, Dustin Treble had a quiet night with few shots, stopping all of them to record his sixth shutout of the season. The squad played Dec. 20 against Milverton and won 3-1. Coaches said the team played a great game of hockey. The defence played hard and shut Milverton out of Blyth’s end for most of the game. The forwards were fast and kept the puck in Milverton's zone getting good shots on the net.
