Happy anniversary to Annie and Dan McInnes who celebrate on Dec. 27. On Dec. 13 about 55 Edgar relatives gathered for their annual Christmas get-together hosted by the family of Irlma Edgar. The ladies of the Belgrave Women’s Institute catered a turkey dinner. Special guests were Helen Stonehouse of Braemar Retirement Home in Wingham and Mait and Mary Edgar of Petrolia. I know that Irlma Edgar was with us in spirit as she is recovering in Wingham hospital after having hip surgery. Many of the relatives paid her a visit before supper. Santa arrived just in time to give out the presents and afterwards everyone enjoyed a few games of bingo and snacks, coffee and punch before heading home. Those attending were from Atwood, Aylmer, Barrie, Belgrave, Blyth, Brigden, Clinton, Goderich, London, Petrolia, Tavistock and Wingham. Special events at Blyth United Church this coming week are the Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. and on Dec. 28 Mark Nonkes will be the guest speaker at the 11 a.m. service.
