Wrapping it up
Just before a rotation, these euchre players finished up their hands last Friday in
Londesborough. They were one of over a dozen tables in play despite the snowy conditions
outside. Vera Hesselwood, left, and Kay Hesselwood, right, took on Alex Townsend, centre
and his teammate Stu Wilson, not pictured. (Shawn Loughlin photo)

Blyth arena was the setting for the
Bantam boys as they played their
latest game of broomball against
Mildmay on Dec. 13.
Bryce Glousher played a great
game in net making many saves for
his team. Both teams showed some
great passing and ball control taking
some nice shots on both nets.
Mildmay was able to get on the
scoreboard with just over four
minutes left in the first period.
In the second period defender
Murray Dale took a hard shot at
Mildmay’s net. The ball deflected
away from the goal and bounced
around before Gerrit Logtenberg
picked it up and tipped it into the net.
Midway through the second
period, Mildmay got lucky and when
Blyth’s keeper was down they didn’t
miss the opportunity to flip the ball
into the net.
Blyth tried to tie it, but Mildmay
walked away with a 2-1 victory.
Blyth was a little rusty after a
couple of weeks off the ice, but
played a much stronger second
half.
