Knox United Church Women’s
Evening Group met at the home of
Muriel Coultes on Tuesday, Dec. 2
for their Christmas meeting.
Barbara Anderson’s group was in
charge and she welcomed everyone
and read an Advent poem, Prepare
the Way, then gave a prayer.
Mrs. Coultes read the minutes and
gave the treasurer’s report. The roll
call was answered by saying how
each member expected to spend
Christmas Day and by bringing a
gift for the Christmas Bureau.
Nancy Folkard was the MC for the
newest reality show, Who is the
King of Christmas and Mrs. Coultes
took the parts of the various kings.
As each contestant was introduced, a
hymn was sung telling something
about them. Each contestant, King
David, Herod, Augustus, the Three
Kings and Wenceslaus, told of why
they should be called the King of
Christmas and Mrs. Anderson being
the judge, told each one, why they
could not be considered.
Donna Shaw, a member of the
group, finally spoke up and said that
the baby in the manger should be the
King of Christmas as he fulfilled all
the qualities of the other kings
himself.
The hymn, Hark the Herald
Angels Sing and prayer closed the
program.
The January meeting will be at the
home of Sheila Nixon. The general
UCW meeting was announced for
Thursday, Jan. 15 with a potluck
supper at 6:30 p.m. and Bruce
Whitmore showing his pictures of
his trip to Mozambique.
A gift had been wrapped six times,
and as it was passed around, the
person opening it asked a question
and everyone took turns opening the
gift, and sharing their answer to the
question.
Laura Johnston and Mrs. Coultes
served lunch.
