MARGARET MAE COWIE Margaret Mae Cowie (nee Mason) of London passed away peacefully at Victoria Hospital on Nov. 19, 2008. She was in her 87th year. Mae was the dearly-loved wife of Alexander Cowie for 62 years. She was the cherished mother of Janice Finlay (Ron) and proud grandmother of Melanie Dalton (Scott Bolland) of Brisbane, Australia and Melinda Dalton (Marc-Olivier Champoux) of Kitchener. She was the great- grandmother of Alexandra, Christopher and Nicholas Bolland of Brisbane. Mae was the dear sister of Jim Mason of Blyth and Kay Buchanan of Egmondville. She will also be missed by her great friend William Finlay, sister-in-law and good friend Pearl Mason of Londesborough, Nellie Mason and Irma Mason, both of Blyth, Doris MacLean, Peter Cowie and Kenny Cowie, all of Burnaby, B.C. She is also survived by many nieces,nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.Mae was predeceased by brothers,Archie, Gordon, Aylmer and Albert Mason and brother-in-law Walter Cowie. A memorial service was conducted at the Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Rd. N. on Friday, Nov. 21, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the London Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family. Born in London on March 15, 1941, Marie was in her 68th year. Marie was the beloved wife of Fred. She was the dear daughter of Lillian and the late Walter Flanigan of Ilderton. She was the dear mother of Fred and Fina Stute of the Dominican Republic, Rob Stute of RR4, Brussels, Gord and Donna Stute of RR 2, Bluevale and Cindy and Jason Searson of Watford. She was the dear sister of Robert and Nancy Flanigan of Ilderton, Arnold and Donna Flanigan of Wiarton, Sherran Mitchell of Chatham and Kathy Hammill of Thorndale. Marie was also loved by her eight grandchildren: Frederick, Jeremey, Winifer, Cody, Ryan, Megan, Jesse and Amber; her many nieces,nephews and friends.Cremation has taken place.Friends were received on Sundayfrom 7-9 p.m. and Monday from 1 - 3 p.m. at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home where the Celebration of Marie’s life was conducted at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 24 officiated by Rev. Jeff Hawkins. Remembrances of Marie were given by Mary Sanders, Bob Flanigan and Philip Watson. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. June was born in Morris Twp. on June 18, 1922, daughter of the late Eleanor and Thomas Burke. June was the beloved wife of Michael West. She was the mother of Nancy (MacAulay) and her husband Carlton Smith of Georgetown. June was the dear sister of Frank and Isobel Burke of Wingham. She was the sister of the late Calvin and Jane Burke of Wingham. She will especially be sadly missed by her grandchildren Rachel and husband Jeff Saunders of Acton, Jessica Smith and Jordan Smith of Georgetown and by her great- grandson Austin Saunders. She was a special aunt to Stephenand Ginette Burke of Belgrave,Sheila (Burke) and Doug Bauer ofBrussels, Julie (Burke) and GlennRuttan of Calgary, Connie Burke and Gerald Marks of Wingham and Susan Burke of Calgary. She is also survived by nine great-nieces and nephews and extended family. Six years ago, family and friends helped June celebrate her 80th birthday in Wingham and that continued to give her many happy memories in the years since. Cremation took place in Florida and a private family graveside memorial will be held at Wingham Cemetery. June always treasured her family and many visits home to Wingham. As her memorial stone says “Home At Last”. MARGERY MCKENZIE Margery Grace McKenzie passed away at Seaforth Manor Nursing Home on Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, She was in her 88th year. She was the beloved wife of Murray McKenzie of Seaforth. Margery was the dear mother and mother-in-law of Ross (Shirley) Carter of Clinton, Kathleen (Ken) Engelstad of Goderich, Ronald Carter of Clinton, Steven Carter and Pat Hulley of Blyth and George Eisler of Mitchell. She was the loving grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren. Margery will also be remembered by a sister Phyllis Gant of Clinton. She was predeceased by her firsthusband Percy Carter (1961), adaughter Betty Lou Eisler, adaughter-in-law Kristen Carter, herparents Andrew and Ruby (Grealis) Steep and siblings Dorothy Pickett, Tom Steep, Bob Steep, Betty Grul, Barbara Carroll and Jerry Steep. Family received friends at the Whitney-Ribey Funeral Home, 87 Goderich St. W., Seaforth on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m. Julia Sinclair officiated. Interment was in Clinton Cemetery. Memorial donations to Clinton Public Hospital Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
