On Sunday, the Saugeen Maitland
Lightning Bantam AA Girls met the
Brantford Ice Cats in Ayton.
The Lightning struck in the second
period, on a shot by Laura Irwin,
assisted by Sarah Gossell and Kelly
Gribbons.
The lead was short-lived, as the
Ice Cats answered with a goal of
their own seconds later.
Despite many good chances for
the Lightning in the third period,
they could not find the twine again
and the final score remained 1-1.
The Lightning is in action again
next Saturday in Windsor against the
Wildcats and Sunday in Howick
against the Guelph Thunder.

It was crowded at the net last week when the boys from East Wawanosh Public
School took on Wingham Public School through the north region volleyball
tournament held at F.E. Madill Secondary School. East Wawanosh started strong, but
eventually ended up on the wrong side of a 25-11 score. Ryan Shiell, back, and Ben
Pletch met at the net, which ended with the ball in the net. (Shawn Loughlin photo)
