Penfound. There were seven
members and one guest present.
Bernice Norman opened the
meeting with a reading, November is
Poppy Month, followed by two
minutes of silence. She then read a
poem, Remembrance Day is Here
Again. This was followed with
prayer and The Lord’s Prayer
repeated in unison.
Betty Archambault read the
minutes of the last meeting. Roll call
was answered with how manychildren called for Halloween and adonation of clothing, etc. to theChristmas Bureau. Ila Cunningham gave the treasurer’s report and readthank you notes from the hospitalsfor donations and from Denise Grossfor her wedding present.Dorothy Schneider reported on aphone call she had with Winghamhospital auxiliary regarding the quiltthey are now quilting. It will bedonated to the cancer unit ofWingham hospital and the auxiliarywill be selling tickets on it next fall,
with proceeds to go to the cancer
unit, to purchase something that is
needed in the unit.
A collection of birthday and lunch
money was taken.
The January meeting will be held
at the home of Eileen McClinchey.
Roll call will be recipes for
preserves.
As Deanna Snell, Bernice Norman
and Vera Penfound have been taking
turns as president for the last three
years, they felt it was time for
someone else to have a turn. It was
decided that there will be roving
presidents with each member taking
a turn.
Ila Cunnningham will remain as
treasurer. Eileen McClinchey will be
secretary and Betty Archambault,
assistant secretary.
Dorothy Schneider was auctioneer
for a miscellaneous sale. She was
able to raise over $69 and the money
will be donated to the Salvation
Army.
The club also finished a puff quilt
and the members had their pictures
taken with it. It will also be donated
to the Salvation Army for a needy
family.
Vera served lunch of coffee, tea,
squares, and tarts, which was
followed by a social hour.

Shoeboxes should be brought in by
Nov. 23.
The Crusader program will be
having their awards ceremony early
in December.

FROM AUBURN
The Auburn Horticultural Society
hosted its Christmas decorating
meeting at the Auburn Community
Hall.
Marion Kroekenstal of Pondsview
Garden Centre and her co-worker
Jane Namink provided an
interesting, fun and educational
evening. Their challenging quiz was
won by Sylvia Ball. Other winners
were Cathy Fisher, Brenda Empey,
Jane Glousher and Suzanne Renon.
The winners received gift
certificates for Pondsview Garden
Centre.
The guests were then shown how
to uniquely decorate a large bare
non-evergreen tree. Audience
participation was welcomed and
three eager ladies helped to make
some of the evergreen decorations.
Shirley Andrews was the winner
of the tree.
Door prizes, provided by the
Auburn Horticultural Society, were
won by Gail Dobie, Bernadette
Andrews, Gerry Upthegrove and
Shirley Archambault.
A short time of business followed
to discuss a potential bus trip in
March. Lunch was served.
