Sedgewick responds, “Who cares
about morals, ethics or principles. I
live in the real world where if you
want something, you get it however
you can. If I have to lie, cheat or
steal, to get the job done, I will do
it.”
The conversation ends and out of
one of the toilet stalls walks
Sedgewick’s son and he exits the
washroom. No commentary is given.
Lying, cheating and stealing mess up
the next generation. That clogs our
spiritual arteries. We may get away
with it for a period of time, although
it will catch up to us.
So what is the cure to our
spiritually clogged arteries?
Throughout the Bible the key to our
cure is repenting. This means that
we change our minds about holding
grudges, lying, cheating and stealing
to name a few.
We agree with God that it is
wrong. We confess we have messed
up and no longer practise these
things.
Sometimes we do not know we
have a problem until things begin to
break down. Many times there are
the warnings and the question is
whether or not we will heed the
warnings.
Proverbs 22:3 says, “A prudent
person foresees danger and takes
precautions. The simpleton goes
blindly on and suffers for it.”
I am so thankful that I received
help.
In the spiritual realm, I pray that
everyone of us has someone that can
lead us to the great physician, Jesus
Christ, whether it is a friend or
family member or pastor. The key to
opening our spiritual arteries is
coming to Jesus Christ and letting
his blood cleanse us from the
breakdowns and plug ups.
Clogged arteries hinder us
physically and spiritually. Both can
lead to death if they are not dealt
with. The key is to acknowledge we
have a problem and need help.
Getting the proper help is
absolutely critical. The benefit of
unclogged arteries is a miracle and
amazing.
Erin Roy still carries a torch for
her late uncle, Detective Const.
Robert Plunkett. Roy will be sharing
her story of carrying the Olympic
Torch in the Tibetan City of Shangri-
La, China Sunday, Nov. 23 at 7:30
p.m. at Huron Chapel EMC, 119
John’s Ave., Auburn.
Roy was one of 19,400
torchbearers who participated in the
2008 Olympic Torch relay, the
longest and largest in Olympic
history. She will describe how she
won a global on-line contest to place
first in a search for 2008 Olympic
torchbearers.
Accompanied by 10 members of
her family, Roy made the memorial
journey to China to celebrate the life
of Plunkett and his lifelong service
to the Ontario Special Olympics and
the Law Enforcement Torch relay.
“It was truly an experience of a
lifetime. Rob was with us in every
way from start to finish.”
Detective Const. Robert Plunkett
was born and raised in the town of
Auburn and his mother Jewel
Plunkett still resides there
today.
