The Brussels PeeWee Local
League played Blyth last Friday
night at home.
Kyle Pollard opened the scoring
for the Dogs Halfway through the
first period. At the three-minute
mark Robbie Gordon walked in from
the blueline and fired a shot past the
Brussels goalie, Austin Johnston
with an assist from Pollard. With less
than a minute remaining in the first
period Trystan Weber scored on a
pass from Brendan Hallahan.
A minute into the second period
Blyth’s Curtis Raynard completed a
scoring play with an assist going to
Josh VanSoest. Solid defence and a
couple of home team penalties
helped Blyth control the balance of
the game.
Dustin Treble stopped all the shots
he faced, earning his second shutout
in a row.
The final score was 4-0 for Blyth.
Brussels’ Johnston was kept busy
throughout the game catching some
pop flies off the Blyth sticks. He
made 28 saves. One save is credited
to Scott Dolmage. He ended up
behind Johnston during a save that
bounced off his stick, only for
Dolmage to stop the rebound shot.
Brussels PeeWee Locals will start
off the minor hockey days on Friday
night as they host Wingham at
7:30 p.m.

The Blyth Midget boys travelled to
Mildmay for a broomball game on
Nov. 12. This was the first match of
the season for these two teams and it
was a very close match.
Tyler Hallahan stood strong in net
for Blyth and did a great job.
Mildmay was first to score after
getting a breakaway at the beginning
of the first period. Blyth had some
chances to tie up the game, but just
couldn't find the right spot to slip the
ball in past Mildmay’s keeper.
Penalties were handed out to both
teams, but neither was able to score a
goal and take advantage of the
powerplay.
The second period saw Blyth’s
winger, Greg Roetcisoender, take the
ball away from his opponents and
score to tie it.
At one point in the second period
there was lots of traffic in front of the
Blyth net and Mildmay took
advantage of the confusion and
scored to take a 2-1 victory.
Nov. 21 at 9:30 p.m. in Blyth, is
the next time these teams will
faceoff.

Blyth PeeWee goalie Dustin
Treble, turned away all the Elma
Logan shots to record his first
shutout of the season in recent
hockey action.
The PeeWee Local League gave a
hard performance at home Nov. 10.
The team played well together
controlling the majority of the play
for most of the game. Blyth limited
the scoring chances that Elma Logan
had and Treble responded by
stopping them all. The coaches were
impressed that even though they
kept tinkering with the line
combinations the team as a whole
played solid defence and when the
time arose they capitalized on their
own scoring chances.
Curtis Raynard scored the opening
goal of the game just minutes in
from a pass from Trystan Weber.
Blyth finished its scoring for the
night with an unassisted goal by
Josh VanSoest.
Blyth had several more scoring
chances during the game, only to be
held back by the strong play of the
Elma Logan goaltender.
The final score was 2-0.
