Santa Claus is coming to town, the weather is perfect, the parade is being prepared, the candy has been bought and all you have to do is get ready for Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. It’s the time to set the mood for the festive weeks ahead. Time to put all grudges aside, all depressing thoughts on hold and get ready to give your very best to the human race. Yes you can do it. Santa will be happy. Visiting family is always a joy. Joan Jacobs went to see her brother Jim near Palgrave, to see how he survived his time in Nepal. He and a friend thought they should or could climb the mountains there. If you add two miles to the top of our Rockies Jim says that was their route. All went well with good guides, good local food and two aging bodies that made the grade up and down the slopes. He and Joan had a good visit interspersed with lively times with the nieces and nephews. Ralph and I thought we should check the development of Miss Ella Graber in Barrie. I’m pleased to report she has a good giggle and eyes that sparkle. What more could we want. It was goodbye time for Barb Stiles-Knight-Rumball last Saturday. Barb was one of those women who always made your day better just by speaking to you. Her move to London several years ago left an empty spot for many but in Barb fashion she made the best of herworld wherever she was. Judy and Patti have retained manyof their school friends and with lotsof family about, the funeral was agreat time of gathering and goodremembering.John Lowe, Kathy Elliott and I areaway seeing what our Ontario Nurses Association have been up to. The biannual meeting at the Royal York in Toronto is reason enough to leave Brussels for a few days in November. The number of nurses available for your care is getting scary so it will be good to see what plans are being offered. I’m thinking we should be able to find a little fun there as well as all the business to be done. Bye now, Betty G.W. The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge was held on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. with 16 members present. Noble Grand Sharon Freeman presided and the meeting opened with a Remembrance Day poem read by Joyce Jacklin. Vice Grand Betty Cardiff visited with several sisters. Elva Brown is now in Goderich hospital. A donation was made to the Huron-Perth Children’s Aid Society Christmas Bureau. The Christmas party is planned for Tuesday, Dec. 9 with a 6 p.m. dinner at JR’s. Following the meeting a gift exchange will take place. Everyone is requested to bring an item for the North Huron Food Share. The next meeting will be Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m. Diggin’ in Funny how much fun this kind of work is when you’re little. We apologize for any confusion this may have caused. Sorry our mistake TO ALL RESIDENTS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF HURON EAST PLEASE HELP KEEP THIS WINTER A SAFE ONE The Council of the Municipality of Huron East requests the cooperation of the ratepayers regarding the parking of cars and other vehicles, and the depositing of snow on municipal roads during the period in which snow clearing operations are necessary. It is an offence under the Highway Traffic Act, section 170(12) to : “Park or stand a vehicle on a highway in such a manner as to interfere with the movement of traffic or the clear- ing of snow from the highway.” Also, Section 181 states: “No person shall deposit snow or ice on a roadway with- out permission in writing to do so from the Ministry or the Road Authority responsible for the Maintenance of the Road.” Parking is not permitted on any street or road within the Municipality of Huron East between the hours of 2am and 6am from November 1 to April 15. Violators will be ticketed and may have their vehicles towed and impounded. Neither the Municipality of Huron East nor the “Snow Plow Operators” will be held responsible for damage done to vehicles or mailboxes on the Municipal Road Allowance. YOUR HELP AND COOPERATION IN THESE MATTERS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED AND WILL AID IN A SAFE WINTER FOR ALL. BARRY MILLS, C.E.T., HURON EAST PUBLIC WORKS MANAGER
