HomeMy WebLinkAboutThe Citizen, 2008-11-06, Page 10PAGE 10. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2008.Corn harvest was
progressing with the arrival of
the drier weather last
weekend. At least, that was
until Sunday night and
another heavy rain has put a
stop to a lot of field work. The
hunters appreciated having at
least some of the corn off to
make it a little easier to hunt.
Keep your eyes open for
deer, especially at dusk and
dawn as the deer are on the
move. One large deer was hit
on Friday evening on the road
to Brussels and the vehicle
sustained quite a bit of
damage, so beware.
Another Ryan family was
celebrating last week, as it
was John (Jack) and Marianna
Ryan’s 40th wedding
anniversary. The family
gathered at the Fireside Café
for a family meal and get-
together. Jack and Marianna
have four children, Steve, Joe,
Monica and Peggy.
They were also joined by
Jack and Marianna’s brothers
and sisters from Ottawa,
Toronto, Kippen, Brussels
and Walton areas. They had a
wonderful meal and
celebration together.
Our deepest sympathies are
extended to the Pearson and
Fischer families on the
passing of Jean Fischer.
Formerly of the Ethel area,
Jean was the daughter of
Isabel and the late George
Pearson.
Our get-well wishes go out
to Mary Mann who is a
patient in Listowel hospital
and to Isabel Pearson and
Graeme Craig, who are under
the weather.
Enjoying having family
home for 10 days were Ross
and Shirley Smith. Their son
Rob was home from Black
Falls, Alberta to visit family
and especially his new
granddaughter, Mia, daughter
of daughter Krista and Mike
Haggitt. While here he also
spent time doing some work
on his other daughter
Michelle’s new home in
Egmondville. He had time to
catch a visit from brothers
Greg, Jeff and Ken and other
family members.
There were a number of
ladies from the Walton and
Brussels area on a bus trip to
the Toronto area to see the
Sound of Music. They joined
others from the Wingham area
to travel first to the Eaton
Centre for lunch and/or
shopping before heading to
the Princess of Wales Theatre
for the matinee performance.Thoroughly enjoying thewonderful music and terrificsound effects were BettyCampbell, Isabel Wheeler,Jane Hall, Mary Bone, MarieMcCutcheon, Karen Cardiff,Irene Blake, Carol Nicholson,Sandra Machan, SueOverholt, Trish Clarkson,Marjory Huether, Phyllis

attended the meeting in St.
Marys where they have
declared the Walton Bluevale

will now continue to find a
new minister for the

the added musical talents

Ryan Baan as well as
an anthem by the
choir.
On-the-job training is not only a great
learning experience, it’s a chance
for students to pursue their individual interests and begin
building a career. With Expanded Co-op — part of the Student
Success Program — more students now have the opportunity
to gain valuable work experience while earning credits,
including 2 compulsory credits, towards their diploma.
With a front-row introduction to sectors that truly
interest them, students get the chance
to “test drive” career options and
build on their individual strengths and abilities. Co-op
can help students whether they are heading to university,
college, apprenticeship or the workplace. To learn more
about Expanded Co-op and other programs like Dual
Credits and Specialist High Skills Majors, contact your
