SMITH/BRAY. We would like to
take this opportunity to express our
sincere thanks for the ongoing love
and support from family members,
friends and neighbours at this time.
We are truly blessed to live in such a
caring community. Thank you for
the condolences at visitation, phone
calls of support, flower
arrangements, cards, food that was
dropped off and the memorial
donations. Everything that was done
for us has been overwhelming. To
those who helped and offered help
we are so grateful. Thanks to
Schimanski Family Funeral Home
and staff for your guidance. A
special thank you to Sandra Cable
for her beautiful service, to Kevin
for reading Shelley’s poem and the
United Church ladies for lunch.
Shelley touched a lot of lives and we
would like to share her poem, My
Sacred Place with everyone. –
Lovingly remembered by husband
Ron, Dad and Mom - Larry and Jan.
My Sacred Place
When my body is in turmoil
and aches,
my mind will carry me to
my sacred place.
The land is lush with trees
and lakes.
My pain quickly leaves
without a trace.
Here, the air is fresh and pure,
and the beach is made of
coloured rock.
The water summons me closer
with a lure,
my feet glide over its earth
to the dock.
I can see the ripples of slow waves,
they melt into the cool, sea foam
blue.
On its shore I see small caves,
maybe left by another as some sort
of clue.
These caves must contain treasure,
what else could it be?
The treasure may be rich
with a cure,
I wish I could cross the water
and go see.
I walk back to the beach,
feeling the gentle wind on my back.
Time has not allowed it to be
in my reach.
My mind knows the magic
my body lacks.
– Shelley Smith
