A celebration of the life of Ken
who passed away Sept. 4, 2008 will
be held on Saturday, Oct. 25.
The celebration will be held at the
Auburn Memorial Hall from 1 - 5
p.m. Family and friends are
welcome. Interment of ashes is at 11
a.m. at Dungannon Pioneer
Cemetery.
AREND BAKKER
Arend Bakker, formerly of RR1,
Monkton, passed away at Brantford
General Hospital on Wednesday,
Oct. 15, 2008, in his 97th year.
He resided at Hardy Terrace, RR2,
Brantford. He was born in the
Netherlands, a son of the late Jacob
and Jantje (Moraal) Bakker. He was
the beloved husband of the late
Maria (Rodermond) Bakker who
predeceased him in 1993. He was
the father of Jacob Bakker and
Sandra Stoddart of Brantford and
Jane and John Hoggart ofLondesborough. He will beremembered by five grandchildren,four great-grandchildren and his
brother John Bakker and his wife Els
of Sarnia.
As per Arend’s request, cremation
has taken place and there will be no
funeral home visitation. A private
family graveside service will take
place at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted to
the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141
John Street, Atwood.

ERWIN HAAG
Erwin Haag of RR2, Brussels,
passed away at Listowel Memorial
Hospital on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008.
He was in his 35th year.
Erwin was the beloved son of
Viktor and Silvia (Thurleman) Haag
of RR2, Brussels. He was the dear
brother of Conny and Rama
Frischknecht of Switzerland,
Eveline and Jorn Steunebrink of
RR1, Zurich, and Roger Haag of
RR2, Brussels. Erwin was the uncle
of Angela and Laura Frischknecht
and Jolene Steunebrink. Erwin will
also be sadly missed by many
friends.
Visitation was held at the Eaton
Funeral Home, Listowel on Monday
from 7 to 9 p.m. with prayers at 6:30
p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial was
celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman
Catholic Church, Listowel on
Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 11 a.m. Father
John Jasica officiated.Interment was in FairviewCemetery, Listowel.Memorial donations to Listowel
Memorial Hospital Foundation
would be appreciated as expressions
of sympathy.

THELMA JEAN PLETCH
Mrs. Thelma Pletch of Wingham,
formerly of Belgrave passed away at
Braemar Retirement Centre, on
Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008. She was 86.
The former Thelma McGuire was
the beloved wife of the late Samuel
Pletch who predeceased her in 1993.
Shewas was the dear mother of
Wayne and Joan Pletch of Wingham,
Max and Lynne Pletch of Dryden,
Keith and Bonnie Pletch of RR3,
Teeswater, Ruth-Ann and Joe
Russell of Guelph, Kevin and
Barbara Pletch of Belgrave and
David and Melanie Pletch of RR1,
Belgrave. Thelma will be lovingly
remembered by 14 grandchildren
and 15 great-grandchildren. She was
the sister of Lois and Norman Hill of
Toronto, Ruth Cantelon of Tweed
and Audrey MacKay of Wingham.
Her parents Harry and Carrie
(Stonehouse) McGuire and brothers-
in-law Alan MacKay and Harold
Cantelon predeceased her.
Visitation was at McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
The funeral service was held at the
funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 1
p.m.
Interment was in BrandonCemetery, Belgrave.Memorial donations to a charity ofone’s choice would be appreciated as
expressions of sympathy.

SHELLEY DAWN SMITH
Shelley Dawn (Bray) Smith of
Brussels, passed away peacefully at
Stratford General Hospital on
Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008.
Born in Listowel on Nov. 16,
1971, Shelley was in her 37th year.
Shelley was the loving wife of
Ron and dear daughter of Larry and
Janis Bray of RR1, Ethel and
daughter-in-law of Sharon and Paul
Smith of Sauble Beach. She will be
forever remembered by Grandma
Bray, Grandpa and Grandma Smith,
brother-in-law Rick and Tracey and
family, her aunts, uncles, cousins,
and special friends.
Shelley was predeceased by her
dear brother Kent, her Grandpa Bray
and cousin Stacey.
Friends were received by the
family from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.
Wednesday from the Schimanski
Family Funeral Home. The funeral
service was conducted from Brussels
United Church on Thursday, Oct. 16
at 2 p.m. with Sandra Cable
officiating.
Cremation followed with
interment in Brussels Cemetery.
