The Thanksgiving meeting of the
Belgrave UCW Evening Group was
held at the home of Nancy Folkard
on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Sheila Nixon’s
group was in charge of the meeting
and she welcomed everyone and
thanked Nancy for hosting the
meeting. Mrs. Nixon read a poem,
My Everyday Thanksgiving.
Barbara Anderson opened the
worship with a call to worship on
Thanksgiving and read the poem
Look to This Day. This was followed
by prayer. Muriel Coultes read
Psalm 95, after which the hymn
Come Ye Thankful People Come
was sung.
Barbara and Muriel then read the
meditation and announced the
hymn, Now Thank We All Our God.
The offering was received and the
worship closed with prayer.
The minutes were read and
approved and the roll call was
answered by, Something Unusual To
Be Thankful For.
Mrs. Coultes gave the treasurer’s
report and Pat Hunking reported she
had sent 13 cards. It was decided to
give $300 to the church’s Food
Grains Project. The Fall H-P
Presbyterial Rally was announced
for Oct. 21 with Bruce and Margaret
Whitmore speaking.
Mrs. Nixon talked about some
interesting articles she had found in
the magazine Our Canada, as well as
several items from The Observer.
The article she read, I’m Giving
Church Another Chance was
discussed and similarities were
mentioned about churches in our
own area. She closed the program
with an article on Thanksgiving.
The benediction was said and
grace was sung.
A social time was enjoyed after a
tour of Nancy’s new home.

The Foundations Of Education program made a stop in
Belgrave last week to make a presentation to the Grade 4/5
students at East Wawanosh Public School. The workshop
was called The Red Nose Knows! It’s a workshop that
brings laughter and discovery into the classroom, with
students wearing the red nose so they can see each other
through fresh and innocent eyes. From left: Courtney Guy,
