Topic: “Let the River Flow”
North Huron councillors wanted
to clear the air on some waste issues
at the Oct. 6 meeting.
Councillor James Campbell
mentioned that he had been asked
about the closing of the East
Wawanosh landfill, which hasn’t
been discussed.
“The rumours are out there,” he
said.
There was also some talk about
recycling and curbside pickup and
the costs. Clerk-administrator Kriss
Snell said that staff were working on
a flyer to distribute informing
ratepayers that the township is
changing its recycling provider. “It
will now be the same day for pick up
of waste and recycling.”
East Wawanosh residents are
getting an additional flyer to
introduce them to recycling and
curbside pickup. “If we never sell
another bag tag or increase the
recycling collected, the costs would
amount to a little less than $70 per
household and that comes down
quite a bit when we receive the
waste diversion grant, the
commodity price for recyclables and
the sale of bag tags.”
