Many children attended and had a lot of fun racing their Hot Wheels. Olympians is held at Huron Chapel Evangelical Missionary Church in Auburn on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8 p.m. Congratulations to Auburn residents Richard and Trisha Sharron on the arrival of their first- born, a daughter Lauren Ocean. Gunnar and Evelyn Christensen have become great-grandparents while their daughter Lisa Hoelscher is a proud grandma. Lisa’s sister May Christensen is a very excited great aunt. Congratulations to you all. Auburn now has a choir. It starts this week on Sept. 18 from 4:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Huron Chapel. If your children, between the ages of eight - 12 are interested in being part of this choir contact Suzanne MacVicar at 519-526-7189. Registration is free. The choir will only be running until mid-December. On Sept. 14 at Knox United the Responsive Reading was Psalm 103. The gospel reading was Matthew 18: 21-35. The sacrament of baptism was held at Knox United Church last Sunday. Tavish Daniel Legacy, son of Daniel Legacy and April Gross was baptized. There will be a joint morning worship service at Ball’s Church at 11 a.m. this coming Sunday, Sept. 21. At Huron Chapel on Sunday, Sept. 14 Pastor Dave Wood preached on tithing. Which is more, your tip or your tithe? They read from Mark 12: 41-44. Pastor Wood talked of the widow’s mite. She gave it all. Is Jesus interested in what we give and how? Do we carefully give to God? Are we good managers of our money? Do we give as God prospers? Do we practise proportionate giving – loving pre-meditated liberal giving? The September meeting of theMelville Guild and Women’sMissionary Society was held at thehome of Jean Bewley on Tuesday,Sept. 9 with 12 members present.The theme was Fear.The meeting was opened with aresponsive scripture from Psalm 46.The hymn, All the Way My SaviourLeads Me was sung and thescriptures Isaiah 43: 1-2, Matthew10: 29-31 and Hebrews 13: 6 read by Jean Bewley and Sheila Prescott.Mrs. Prescott read a poem, AboutFear, and Mrs. Bewley read a poem,King Bruce and the Spider. Mrs.Prescott read a short story, How toOvercome Fear, which was followedby a discussion on fear. The roll call was answered with each person telling what they are fearful of. Mrs. Prescott read two stories, A Fear of Water, written by Marilyn Bell and Helping a Good Cause, written by Mother Theresa. Mrs. Bewley led in prayer and the hymn, God Sees the Little Sparrow Fall was sung. Mrs. Prescott read a poem, Thoughts and the Mizpah Benediction was repeated by all. Mary Carr presided over the business. She read a poem, Fall Song, and the minutes of the June meeting were read and approved. The correspondence included a thank you from Marg Black and family and an invitation to the Maitland Presbyterial WMS fall rally to be held in Kincardine on Sept. 29. The WMS treasurer’s report was given by Leona Armstrong and the Guild treasurer’s report was given by Jeanne Kirkby.It was decided to invite Melville’stwin society, the Wingham afternoongroup to the October meeting. Themeeting will be in the church onTuesday afternoon, Oct. 21 at 2 p.m.Leona Armstrong, Cathrine Campbell and Marg Black will be in charge of this meeting.
