TRY CLASSIFIED By Meagan Higgins Meeting one of the Wawanosh Dance: A Sporting Chance 4-H Club was held on Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. at the home of leader Eileen George. Members opened the meeting with the pledge, then roll call was Name a time when you performed for other people. Answers varied from Christmas concerts to performing in the drama club. Kristina Drennan was voted president, Jillian Martin was voted vice-president, Maisy Jefferson was chosen as secretary, Meagan Higgins is press reporter and Melissa Higgins is cover designer. The meeting schedule was discussed and some dates chosen for meetings. Then was the voting on the name of the club. There was only one suggestion, Dancing Divas. Eileen put on music and called out body parts and members had to move that body part. Then the members were split into two groups. Each member on the first team would move freely while the other team had to watch and pick which member they were going to watch. Time was up, the second team had to perform what they had seen. The first team had to figure out who it was that was mimicking them. The members stayed in the same teams during a teamwork activity. Teams had to move at the same pace doing different things. They did another activity where members were split into groups of two and each group was given a different stage or dance. Members put on a skit to demonstrate their type of stage or dance. Next was structured improvisation where each member had to dance in front of the other members on the spot to music. They talked about folk dancing. It is a celebratory dance done for specific purposes such as birth, death, harvest or weddings. They did funny-face phone a game identical to telephone. Instead of whispering in the person next to you ear, they had to make a funny face and pass it on. 4-H Dancing Divas start dancing
