MLS#082387 The Belgrave Knox United Church Vacation Bible School completed another successful session last week with an average attendance of over 50 children each day and most children attending for the entire session. The theme this year was SonWorld Adventure Park with songs, snacks, crafts, games and New Testament stories. Adult volunteers were: Doreen Marks, Susan Jamieson, Pat Barnes, Kim Walker, Nancy Folkard, Nicole Coultes, Nancy Jardin, Dorothy Coultes, Lila Procter, and Jim Barnes. Teen volunteers were Matt Cottrill, Nellie Cook, Loretta Thompson, Gabriel Carter, Melinda Dorsch, Laura Higgins, and Brianna Yuill. Children attended from 9 a.m. to noon each day and demonstrated what they’d learned at a well- attended parent session on Thursday night at the Belgrave Women’s Institute. The organizers greatly appreciate everyone’s support for the Belgrave Community Growing Project. This year with increased prices for all our inputs, that support was needed more than ever. Even with the donations already reserved, there is not enough yet to cover fertilizer costs. They hope to raise some more money through a garden produce and yard sale Sept. 6 at Knox United Church from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. People can drop off garden produce, flowers, preserves or baking any time from 7:45 a.m. on. Anyone with good yard sale items, can either drop them off that morning for us to sell or people are being encouraged to load their car trunks to sell their items, donating all or part of the sales to the project. Cash donations are also welcomed. Receipts will be issued for donations over $20. Place them in an envelope identi- fying the donor. Make cheques out to Knox United Church, Belgrave and put a note on the cheque that this is a donation to the Foodgrain Project. Well done Knox United Church’s Vacation Bible School ran Aug. 18-22 in Belgrave. Due to the efforts of an excellent team of 10 adult and seven teen volunteers it was another successful week. Over 50 children attended each day, entertained by such activities as cat and mouse with a parachute. A special program for the parents was held at the Women’s Institute Hall Thursday night.
