At the Aug. 18 meeting of North Huron council, councillor Greg McClinchey re-iterated his concerns about the future of rural mail service. “Canada Post has said that more than 20 per cent of rural mailboxes that are going to be tested for safety are going to be taken out of service,” said McClinchey. “If you don’t call this a backdoor way to redirect rural mail I don’t know what it is.” However, having written Canada Post to express concerns in the past, there’s little left that can be done, he agreed, but be aware. “We can’t stop it, but we need to be mindful.” *** Council approved the purchase of a four-wheel drive loader at the tendered price of $112,212, including PST from Nortrax Canada Inc.
