Twp. has received more than $1
million from the Ministry of
Transportation that will go towards
improvements to township roads and
bridges.
In late March, ACW councillors
were notified that the township
would be receiving $1,145,011 from
the Investing in Roads and Bridges
initiative.
So far, the funds have gone
towards the resurfacing of Zion and
Nile Roads, and new paving work on
Bogies Road.
“It’s a nice little lift, a good start to
the next year,” said reeve Ben Van
Diepenbeek. “We’ll make sure that
we thank our MPP the next time we
see her.”

On Wednesday, July 9 the
Wawanosh Powerful Producers 4-H
club attended the Lucknow
Horticulture Society’s flower show.
Members brought in their entries
the previous night to be set up and
judged. All members were required
to participate in the youth category.
At the show, the girls were excited
to see all the displays. All members
won at least one prize.
The judge explained how she
chose the winning entries. The key
is to have the flowers looking fresh
and to follow the height
requirements and description.
All members learned important
details and hope to improve next
year. The members sat down and
enjoyed tea, lemonade and cake.
The show finished with an award
ceremony, and the members
collected their prize money.
The club also visited Lucknow
Foodland to view the produce
section and to answer a worksheet.
The members learned about locally-
grown food and compared the
differences among fresh, frozen and
canned vegetables.
They had an exciting meeting and
will meet again on Aug. 7.
Well done
A new attraction has arrived in Huron County. Last Friday morning, Holmesville-area farmer
Bert Van Maar discovered five crop circles in his wheat field. An intense electrical storm had
blown through the area the night before. (Dominique Milburn photo)
“I really don’t know what to think
about it,” said Holmesville-area
farmer Bert Van Maar. “I guess I’m
kind of surprised.”
On the morning of Friday, July 11,
Van Maar made an interesting
discovery in his Cut Line wheatfield
- five crop circles, between 14 and
30 feet, just... appeared.
He estimates it happened
sometime during the night, after a
lightning storm swept through the
area.
“The field’s right beside our house
so we see it all the time,” he said. “I
drove by yesterday and hadn’t seen
it.”
The smallest of the circles begins

Daily Vacation Bible School, with
the theme of Out of Egypt was held
at Huron Chapel last week. The
record attendance for the week was
126 children on Friday, with many
more registered in total.
The children, who were divided
into the 12 tribes of Israel, were in
slavery for the week. Friday the
children found themselves freed
from Egypt by God, but not before
passing through the Red Sea.
After a week of flour and water
snacks (plain cupcakes, pitas,
pretzels and tea biscuits) Friday’s
freedom celebration included ice-
cream with toppings.
There was plenty to do in the
marketplace. The shopkeepers were
busy with children attending the
bake shop, toy shop, and paper
making shop, weaving shop, sandal
shop, jewellery shop (a favourite)
and many more. As well the
children enjoyed the time traveller’s
theatre (where Bible lessons were
taught), the playground activities,
the lively music and the dramas.
On Sunday, July 13 the Bible
school children and leaders shared
some of the songs learned
throughout the past week. Pastor
Dave Wood preached Out of Egypt,
Sin Is Missing the Mark. He said
you don’t have to be slaves to sin.
You can have freedom, because
there is a deliverer.
Huron Chapel’s Car Show will be
held on July 26 on their grounds on
John Avenue. If you are interested
in cars, planes or anything with an
engine, you won’t to miss this.
There will be competitions, prizes,
RC plane demos, special music, a
barbecue and so much more.
