enjoyable to hang out with.
Lastly we have Cassie who looks
like a shy and sweet little girl but on
the inside you discover she is insane,
fun, energetic and amazing to be
around.
Through all of our changes and self
discovery we have also learned many
life lessons and built some incredible
friendships.
This is also a time to remember all
that has been wonderful in our livesup to this point. We are most thank-
ful for the support and help that we
were given from the school, parents
and friends.
For the teachers, thank you for
lighting our fire. William Yeats once
said that education is not the filling of
a pail, but the lighting of a fire. You
have sparked within us a passion for
learning and for this we will be eter-
nally grateful.
Of course we would never have
made it here today without our par-ents. You have walked us down a
street that seemed so new to what
would be our new school. You have
brought in our forgotten lunches and
projects. You have stayed up late
nights with us working on those mag-
ical assignments that somehow were
due the next day. You have helped us
grow up to be the people we are
today.
And to think that after the summer
we are not coming back to the same
building together, we will be going tonew schools to meet new people and
discover our direction in life. It will
be like kindergarten all over,
E. Cummings said, “It takes
courage to grow up and become who
you really are.”
I can’t imagine going to a new
school where I will have to meet new
people all over again. But we have
gone as far as we can here and we
need to find the courage to move on. I found this quote from Hoppe and
I think it offers valuable advice. “I
hope that my achievements in life
shall be these - that I will have fought
for what was right and fair, that I will
have risked for that which mattered,
and that I will have given help to
those who were in need that I will
have left the earth a better place for
what I’ve done and who I’ve been!”
School years a wonderful time in graduates’ lives
Continued from Brussels
eyes locked onto the bottle and fol-
lowed it up to the front of the class.
As he pulled off the cap giggles
filled the entire room, and as we
waited in anticipation, he finally
took a GIANT gulp.
Everyone burst out in laughter as
his face turned red.
But all of a sudden as he fell to the
floor each smiling face snapped into
a serious gaze as shrieks of “GO
GET HELP” soon prevailed.
Mrs. Dolmage ran in as everyone
watched in horror, then through it all
Mr. Westra managed to say “APRIL
FOOLS!”
This was an entertaining year,
making it difficult to leave. I’ll leave
you with words from Gollum from
Lord of the Rings: “It’s a precious,
precious thing.”
We are your graduating class of
2008!
Continued from East Wawanosh
trying to teach us a lesson or two, or
if he just gets way off topic like
usual, and is telling us some of the
funniest things that his “friends” did
while growing up, personally I’m
starting to wonder if it was just him
who did all the bad things, but does-
n’t want to set a bad example for us
… just kidding.
He is always entertaining us, but at
the same time teaching us every-
thing we need to know. Some say he
should be paid more for putting up
with us, but we really do appreciate
everything, sometimes I’m sure he
wonders though. So thank you for
sticking with each and everyone of
us throughout the two years we have
been with him.
Our class has never been apart in a
split class, so we have been together
for all these years, and made any
new members to the class feel wel-
come, maybe that’s why our class
seems to be so close in friendships.
We have been on many field trips
together but our most memorable
one, with everyone in the class, on it,
would probably be Ottawa. I think I
speak for everyone when I say the
hotel was the best part, I mean the
museums, parliament building and
other great things we went to were
all really cool and interesting, but
the hotel was where we could just
relax and have fun … within reason.
It was a really awesome trip.
The teachers have a huge impact
on a student’s life because they are a
part of our inspiration to succeed,
and teach us what we need to know.
We will miss the friendly teachers
here at East Wawanosh.
The parents are a big part of our
success too, because they supported
us along the way and will continue
to support us.
We all have many memories here
at East Wawanosh that will never be
forgotten, and there is no need to go
on and on about every fantastic
unforgettable memory because the
next time we talk I’m sure it will be
about all our public school memo-
ries.
I hope you all succeed in every-
thing you do, and if you don’t, well
then try again. Because giving up
gets you nowhere, it’s the trying part
that gets you ahead. Thank you
everyone for making all these years
worth it.
Teachers leave their mark Continued from Grey
with flint rock even though Kayla
says they can only do it in the
movies.
13. Never under any circum-
stances, wear non-stretchable pants
to gym class.
Now as I near the end of my
speech I would just like to say to all
the graduates that I hope maybe, just
once in your lifetime, someone will
call you “Sir” or “Madame” without
adding “You’re making a scene!”
Here’s to the 2007/2008 graduat-
ing class.
The year is finally over. We
are now big, bad, high school stu-
dents.
