Such a beautiful day, no one could have asked for anything better. BLYTH UNITED CHURCH Greeting at Blyth United Church on Sunday, July 6 were Ollie Craig and Mary Lou Stewart. Ushering were Nancy Hakkers and Mary Lou Stewart. Margaret Kai was music director. Guest speaker David Onn welcomed everyone to church. The call to worship was followed by the first hymn, Holy, Holy, Holy, the prayer of confession and the assurance of pardon. The choir sang an anthem, One More Step Along the World I Go. For the children’s story, David showed how big the universe was that God had made, by using a grapefruit as the sun and a very small nut as the earth. The next hymn was Para, Para, Pitter Pat. The scripture reading was Exodus 3: 13-15 and the gospel reading was John 1: 1-13. The hymn, Sing Your Praise to God Eternal was sung. David’s message to the adults was, I Am and So Are We All. David gave examples of how God was questioned in the Old Testament, such as how Sarah laughed when God told her she would have a child. Another example was Moses talking to God through the burning bush. God made all in His own image and gave people choices. People are allowed to make their own decisions and to make their own mistakes. David challenged everyone when they get up in the morning to remember, “I am, I am.” The singing of The Lord’s Prayer was followed by the offering being received, the Offering Prayer, the last hymn Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour.
