The Citizen Blyth 519-523-4792 Brussels 519-887-9114 PETER VERBEEK Peter Verbeek of RR1, Belgrave passed away surrounded by his family at LHSC Westminster Campus on Saturday, June 21, 2008. He was in his 78th year. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn (Chambers) Verbeek and the loving father of Sherry and her husband Martial Robitaille of Penetang, Nancy Verbeek of Londesborough and Steve Verbeek of Wingham. He was the dear grandfather of Josh Pickett, Cole Lewis, Colette and Celine Robitaille. Peter was the brother of Audrey and her husband William Van Breda of Elmira, Jean and her husband Adam Joostema of Guelph and Lucy and her husband Jerry Heidbuurt of Elmira. He was an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Peter was predeceased by his brother Tom and his parents. Friends were received at McCallum and Palla Funeral Home, Cambria Road at East Street, Goderich on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Interment was in Ball’s Cemetery. Donations to the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation CT Scanner or the Canadian Cancer Society will be gratefully acknowledged. Michelle Gellatly, former execu- tive director of three not-for-profits: Caritas Hospitals Foundation, Edmonton, AB; Sunshine Dreams for Kids, London, ON and Across Languages Translation and Interpretation Services, London, ON, was approved by the board of directors on May 26. “We are delighted to welcome Michelle to our dynamic organization”, said Randy Stanlake, board chair. “She brings a wealth of experience to the community, and will continue to move the Huron United Way to the next level.” Gellatly graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1983 with a Bachelor of Arts degree and in 2001 with an MBA specializing in Public Relations and Communications from Royal Roads University in Victoria, B.C. Her career spans small business, corporate, manufacturing, education, healthcare and not-for-profit sectors. In addition Gellatly has held development roles at the University of Alberta and and Brescia College (London) building donor databases, volunteer and donor recognition programs, and strengthening alumnae and community relations. She has a strong sense of community, and has volunteered in many agencies over her lifetime and is a supporter of the United Way campaign in her former workplace.
