June is always a very busy monthat Hullett Central Public School ascourses get completed, outdoor activities begin and many extra curricular events are enjoyed. I’ve enlisted the help of some of the pupils there to share their first-hand accounts of these happenings with you. Monica Bakelaar of Grade 8 shares her thoughts about a recent trip for the graduating class. On Friday morning, May 30 the Grade 8 Hullett Central Public School students headed to Camp Celtic at around 7:45 a.m. Enthusiasm filled each student as they anticipated a long weekend that promised many memory making moments. The two-and-a-half-hour bus ride seemed to fly by as everyone was excited about their time at Camp Celtic. We arrived around 11 a.m. and were greeted by head counsellors and given a tour of the camp. All of us could tell Celtic was going to be an all-round great time. The many activities we did included rock climbing, high ropes, crafts, nature walks, field games, the beach and the unforgettable walk to the beautiful grotto. But who could overlook what we had to endure during meals. There was only one rule – no elbows on the table. Or one would be forced to do embarrassing things such as singing, dancing and even proposing in front of the whole camp. Between early mornings and latenights many fun activities wereenjoyed. Even in the cold and wet, a game of Capture the Flag and Camp Survival in the muddy mess made the trip extraordinary. And we did not come home clean. As Monday came each student sadly said goodbye to new friends and counsellors. Even though it rained each day and we got really dirty, Camp Celtic was a great trip we will never forget. We would like to thank Mr. Coups and the Camp Celtic staff for making our grad trip awesome. Great way to start a day Little Cal Taylor was clearly happy about the tasty food on his plate as he munched on toast with sweet berry jam at the Londesborough Lions Father’s Day breakfast on Sunday. By Wednesday of last week Dorothy Sottiaux had been moved to the Goderich hospital to be under the care of her family doctor for a time. Villagers continue to offer her best wishes. July 5 will soon be upon us and if you are still considering having a yard sale that day you might want to be doing some early preparations. I’m still hearing that folks are considering adding their family to the list at the post office. Londesborough United Church will observe the sacrament of communion on Sunday, June 22 and also welcome new members to the church family. The senior choir will gather for practice that morning at 10 a.m. Movie night is Friday, June 26 at 7:30 p.m. Rumour has it that the flick being show is Cars.
