on Tuesday, June 10, 2008 at Listowel
Memorial Hospital with his family at
his side. He was in his 84th year.
Charlie was a member of
Trowbridge United Church since
1944. He began farming with his wife
Winnifred in 1948 and was able to
maintain his property and continued
to raise cattle until his death. One of
his joys was to see his newborn calves
each spring. This year was no
exception, with Charlie seeing 30 new
calves born this season. As a younger
man he was an avid horseman and
kept a number of saddle horses for
riding.
Charlie was given a second chance
at life in 1965 when he survived colon
cancer having been given only six
months to live.
Charlie was a quiet and thoughtful
man with a strong sense of roots and
family. He was most proud of his
children, grandchildren and great-
grandchildren. Charlie was known for
his sense of humour and quiet
demeanor and maintained a smile
even while in hospital immediately
preceding his passing. His door was
always open and a coffee offered to
all who entered.
He was the beloved husband of
Winnifred (Steiss) Mann whom he
married in 1948; the loving father of
Cheryl (Terry) Yost of Monkton,
Sandra (Fred) Smith of Palmerston,
Barbara Moore (Perry Guay) of
Kitchener, John (Miriam) Mann of
Listowel; special grandpa of Todd
(Kelly), Chelsey, Jacqueline, Tyson,
Teddy (Laverne), Vincent (Nicole),Emma, Jonah and 10 great-grandchildren. Charlie was the dear
brother of William Mann of Atwood,
Anne (Ted) Bennett of Cambridge
and Ethel Geiger of Listowel. He will
also be remembered by brothers-in-
law and sisters-in-law, Eileen Mann
of Listowel, Stewart and Madelene
Steiss of Brussels, Jean and Gordon
Stiles of Stratford and many nieces
and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents
Clinton and Myrtle (Adams) Mann,
two sisters and one brother.
Charlie’s family invited relatives
and friends to share their memories at
the Brenneman Funeral Home, 141
John St., Atwood, on Thursday, June
12 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The
funeral service was held at
Trowbridge United Church on Friday,
June 13 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Michelle
Owens officiated. Interment followed
in Elma Centre Cemetery, Atwood.

MALCOLM ‘MAC’ McINTOSH
Mr. Malcolm Ferguson ‘Mac’
McIntosh of Listowel passed away at
Listowel Memorial Hospital on
Tuesday, June 10, 2008. He was in his
90th year.
Mac was the beloved husband of
the former Merle Bride. He was the
father of Bruce McIntosh of London,
Bonnie and Mike Madden ofEdmonton, Heather Quennell ofWingham and Barry McIntosh and
Vicki Scheeringa of Listowel. He was
the grandfather of Ryan and Haley
Madden, Carly, Allison and Cory
Quennell and Amanda, Derek and
Blake McIntosh.
His brothers Ritchie (in infancy)
and Blair McIntosh, and sisters Annie
McIntosh and Mary McIntosh
predeceased him.
Mac farmed in Grey Twp. near
Cranbrook and later worked for Exel
Construction.
He and Merle moved to Listowel in
1970 where he worked at the Poultry
Farm at Campbell Soup.
Mac enjoyed gardening and playing
cards. Anyone whoever played cards
with Mac will have fond memories.
Visitation was held at the Eaton
Funeral Home, Listowel on Sunday
from 1 - 4 p.m. where the funeral
service was held on Monday, June 16
at 11 a.m. with Rev. Steven Cox
officiating. Following cremation,
interment is in Fairview Cemetery,
Listowel.
Memorial donations to Trinity
United Church, Listowel, or Listowel
Memorial Hospital Foundation would
be appreciated.
FLORENCE ROSS
Mrs. Flo Ross of Turnberry Twp.
passed away at Wingham and District
Hospital on Tuesday, June 10, 2008.
She was 85.
The former Florence Grainger, was
the beloved wife of the late Norman
Ross who predeceased her in 2002.
She was the dear mother of Patricia
Sipkes of Kitchener, Linda and Don
Rintoul of Stratford, Betty and TomChristie of Teeswater, Jack andBonnie Ross of RR1, Bluevale and
Don and Nancy Ross of RR1,
Wingham. She was the loving
grandmother of Katrina and Victor,
Laura and Derek, Dean and Melissa,
Scott and Lysandra, Deanne and John,
Kevin and Sherri, Jonathan, Nicole,
Angie and Scott, Sarah and Shelby.
She was the great-grandmother of 12.
Flo was the sister of Betty and
Norman Scarlett of England.
Her son-in-law Peter Sipkes, one
brother and four sisters predeceased
her.
Visitation was at the McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham on
Thursday from 6 - 9 p.m.
The funeral service was held at the
McBurney Funeral Home on Friday
at 2 p.m. Rev. Karen MacRae
officiated. Interment was in Wroxeter
Cemetery, Howick, Twp.
Memorial donations to Wingham
and District Hospital or a charity of
one’s choice would be appreciated as

VELMA SLEIGHTHOLM
Velma Viola (Vine) Sleightholm of
RR2, Listowel passed away at
Listowel Memorial Hospital on
Wednesday, June 11, 2008. She was
in her 92nd year.
She was the beloved wife of Allison
Sleightholm. Mrs. Sleightholm was
the mother of Ruth Anne and Gary
Godden of Trowbridge, Clyde and
Marlene Sleightholm of RR2,
Listowel, Mary Lynn and Keith
Underhill of Staffordville, and Gayle
and Jason Ritter of Listowel. She wasthe grandmother of Noel Godden ofListowel, Sean Godden of Belleville,
Tanya and Joe Duncan of Listowel,
Andrew Sleightholm of RR2,
Listowel and his friend Mallory,
Tracy Robinson of Trowbridge,
Morgan Underhill and Ally Underhill,
both of Staffordville and Ashley
Ritter of Listowel. She was the great-
grandmother of Tyler, Zach, and
Jacob. Mrs. Sleightholm was the
sister of Elmer and Alice Vine of
Listowel.
She was predeceased by her parents
Alva and Annie (Clyde) Vine, and her
brothers Gordon Vine and Jack Vine.
A private family funeral service
was held on Saturday, June 14 with
Rev. John Zondag officiating.
