Last week the U-12 Blyth
Lightning took on the Goderich
Legion at the Sparling soccer fields.
The game started off pretty well
evenly matched with both teams
moving the ball around well. Then
Goderich opened up a commanding
lead, scoring four times before the
end of the first half.
The Lightning came back stronger
in the second half and stopped
Goderich from running away with
the game. The hard work of Leanne
Plunkett, Megan Hoggart,
Mackenzie Nesbitt and Holly
Howson paid off as they set up Ryan
Nesbitt to score for Blyth.
Marion Studhalter did a good job
in net making some key saves on the
Goderich attackers. The Lightning
failed to score on numerous
attempts, allowing Goderich to keep
their lead.
Goderich netted one more before
the end of the match to win 5-1.
