“I don’t know if you can tell by
the smile on my face, but I am
happy...” said Huron County planner
Monica Walker-Bolton at the regular
meeting of Ashfield-Colborne-
Wawanosh council on June 3.
Walker-Bolton was referring to
her recommendation that council
accept the comprehensive zoning
bylaw as it was presented.
The next steps in the process
include providing a public notice,
scheduled to be released on June 18,
that will allow for a 20-day
opportunity to appeal to the Ontario
Municipal Board.
“It’s always good to pass another
milestone in a big process like this,”
Walker-Bolton said.
The bylaw implements the official
plan, which was adopted in 2003 by
A-C-W.
At the May 20 township meeting,
Walker-Bolton presented council
with a report on the new zoning
bylaw, with requests for changes and
recommendations for each request.
All recommendations have now
been approved by council, including
the 450-metre wind turbine setback
from residential homes.

law phone 519-524-4669, or visit

A representative from Canada
Post paid a visit to a group of
community mailboxes in A-C-W on
Friday.
The visit was the result of ongoing
correspondence from a concerned
citizen regarding the aesthetics and
damage being done to his and
municipal property.
In his latest letter to council, the
resident explained the “unfinished”
and “unsafe” repairs around the
community mailbox located at the
end of his driveway.
He cited that he has been pursuing
the matter for more than four years,
and requested a formal response
from council.
“I’ve spoken to Linda Walker at
Canada Post, and somebody is going
to visit some of the sites by Friday to
see if they need attention,” said
reeve Ben Van Diepenbeek.
At previous meetings of council,
members agreed that the mailboxes
are the property of Canada Post, and
they cannot rule on the issue.

construction collapse.
The site remained under the
direction of the Ministry of Labour

their investigation into the cause of
the collapse has been released.

The Knox United Sunday schoolpromotion and awards service washeld on Sunday, June 8.Rev. Pat Cook led in worship, assisted by the Sunday schoolstudents. During the service thechildren performed a play called,
Get Your Facts Straight, based on a
story entitled Mr. Peabody’s Apples.
It was about a baseball team that
thought the coach was stealing
apples. They spread rumours about
him that turned out to be false.
The moral of the skit was that
people should gather all the facts
before jumping to conclusions.
The following students were
presented with attendance awards by
their Sunday school teachers: fifth
year, Teresa Atkinson, Griffin
MacDonald and Caitie MacDonald;sixth year, Jonathan Atkinson; ninthyear, Ethan Durnin, MarshallDurnin, Alex Harman and ZachHarman; 10th year, Lauren Cronin,Caroline McDowell and JanettePlaetzer; 11th year, Jamie Plaetzer;

time of fun and fellowship. A variety
of games and relays provided

are true and noble.
