Sorry to hear that Gwen Papple is a patient in Clinton hospital. We wish her a speedy recovery. We also wish Enid MacDonald a speedy recovery after knee surgery in Stratford hospital. Lorna Fraser conducted the worship service. The first hymn It Only Takes a Spark was sung followed by the call to worship repeated responsively. The next hymn Come In, Sit Down was sung accompanied by Jessica and Grant Sparling on their violins. The opening prayer and the assurance of pardon were followed by the hymn, This Little Light of Mine.The scripture readings were fromExodus 3: 1-6, the 50th Psalm wasread responsively. The congregationsang The Lord’s Prayer.Lorna’s message was Are you aHero? She told the story of Mosesand how with God’s help he couldcomplete his duties, the same wayeveryone can accomplish their mission with God’s help. The next hymn, I Danced in the Morning, was sung. The presentation of awards was followed by the offering being received while the hymn Magic Penny was sung. The last hymn, Kum Ba Ya, was followed by the commissioning and the benediction.Grace was sung when everyonegathered at the dining hall for lunch.Birthday cake was served honouringthe people with June and Julybirthdays. By Marylou Stewart The monthly meeting of the Blyth Royal Canadian Legion Branch 420 was held Tuesday, June 3. Following opening ceremonies Jason Lee was sworn in as a member of the branch. Donations made through motions benefitted the Special Olympics Torch Run, $50; Royal Caribbean Empire League, $50 and the Blyth Public School and Hullett Central School track and field region, $200. Upcoming events in the work of the Legion include the annual fishing derby, June 15. The Legion fun day is to be held June 28 and the BX93 video dance party July 18. Tickets for the annual elimination draw will be sold throughout the summer months with the final draw being held Aug. 23. More information regarding these events can be obtained by calling the Branch at 519-523-9535 after 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
