Presentations
In addition to the election of new officers, two presentations
were made last week at the Blyth Legion. The Blyth Ladies
Auxiliary donated $2,000 to the Blyth Legion and in return,
the Legion presented the Auxiliary with a plaque honouring
its 60th year. Past president Sandra Elliott receives the
plaque on behalf of the Auxiliary from Legion past president

The Sunday school will hold its
promotion and awards service at
Londesborough United Church on
Sunday, June 8. Flowers the Clown
will be the special guest.
Following the morning service
everyone is invited to the strawberry
social in the basement.
The official board of
Londesborough United will meet on
Monday, June 9 beginning at 7:30
p.m.
Fellowship, music and laughterfilled the LondesboroughCommunity Hall on Wednesdayafternoon, May 28. The Happy Gang Seniors hosted seniors from the Auburn and Blythgroup to a hearty potluck lunch andafternoon of entertainment by theBag Ladies from Goderich.This group of 10 women, the number fluctuates depending onwho might be available for a particular event, present a variety show of music and humour.Each lady is dressed to represent a name they have chosen and wearing a paper bag on their head. Their average age is
73.9 and they enjoy poking fun at
aging.

Miss Homeless, straight from the
streets of Toronto is Mary Parke;
Helen MacKenzie is Miss Kitty and
Princess Minnehaha is Betty
Johnston. Grammy Hammy
Pyjammy is Eileen Hamilton; on the
piano is Audrey Kerr as Miss Libby
who carries out her candelabra.
Keeping everything moving along
was Miss Canada Day, June Pyette.The troupe had just as much fun asthe audience. They stated that fun isthe aim of their act and they don’tclaim to be good or necessarily intune, just loud. Their repertoire of familiar songsis lengthy and audience participation
is encouraged. They offered Roll
Out the Barrel, Oh, Johnny, Oh, This
Land is Your Land, He’s Got the
Whole World and I’ve Got Sixpence
to name just a few that pleased the
seniors.
Not to be forgotten, Nancy
brought along her husband, piper
Bill Walker. Bill represented Branch
109 of the Goderich Legion and his
Scottish music was also much
enjoyed.

May 22 dawned damp and cloudy.
However, Hullett Central Public
School took a chance on the weather
and proceeded with the track and
field meet. In the end it was a wise
choice for the day cleared and was
not hot as some years can be.
For the very youngest group, boys
and girls of 2001, highest scorers
were: Ethan S., Griffin M. and Nick
A. The next level splits into boy and
girl competition and the results
favoured Chelsea H., Regan M. and
Savannah V. and Colton R., Jeremy
W. and, tied, Connor D. and Owen
A.
The 1997-1998 top finishers were:
Lexi A., Lateesha V. and Caitie M.,
Kenny H., Colton R. and Jordan
deB.
Megan H., Claire F. and Rayvn F.,
Kyle P.,Austin V. and Adam W. were
the athletes on top of the scoring for
the 1996 group.
For the 1995 category, top place
finishers were Shelsie P., Nicole M.,
Courtney M., Murray D. and, tied,
Derek deB and Zach D. For pupils
born in 1994 or earlier the results

Next Wednesday, June 9, is the
regional track and field meet in
Seaforth. Any of the top three
finishers in each of the school group
are eligible to compete there if they
wish. Practice is continuing on an
individual basis for that meet.
