By Kristina Drennan The third meeting of the Lucknow Beef 4-H Club was Monday, May 22 at the Lucknow Arena. Brent Black welcomed everyone, then opened the meeting with the 4- H Pledge. Kristina Drennan led the roll call. It was decided to invite MPPs to the fundraiser at Mary’s Restaurant on June 8. The silent auction and 4- H dinner is on Aug. 17 at the Auburn Hall. Dr. Robert Bell from Guelph University did a presentation on Immunization and its Role in Disease Prevention. He told the members that it is very important to keep animals dry and clean for that will help prevent sickness. It is important to have a herd management plan and to not bring in new animals during calving time. Calves should be vaccinated when they are healthy and when they are not under stress. Dr. Bell told the members the difference between live vaccines and killed vaccines and also when cows should be vaccinated. Good clean fun The Grade 8s from Grey made some money at a car wash in Brussels on Saturday morning during the busy community yard sale.
