They will serve as missionaries at the Canadian Head office starting in the fall of 2008, but first want to spend some time this summer in Indonesia. Daily Vacation Bible School, Out of Egypt, will be held at Huron Chapel July 7 -11. Bible school July 7-11 Replacing antiquated clay sewerservices with PVC is going to be alittle less costly for residents ofNorth Huron. At its May 5 meeting council passed a recommendation to supply a maximum of five lengths of 4” SDR-28 sewer pipe free of charge. The recommendation was brought to council by the water department to reduce the number of blockagesand the infiltration/exfiltration ofsewage and groundwater, thuscutting flows to the sewagetreatment plant. The incentive will be available toanyone with clay services, withpreference to streets that are going to have the sanitary sewers rebuilt this year. The incentive will be limited to $2,500 with the money being taken from the 2008 distribution/collection maintenance budget. It will be re-assessed to determinethe requirements for next year. The report to council stated thatstaff implications should be minimalas the property owners will beresponsible for installation. However, the township staff will need to inspect for proper installation and removal of uncontaminated water sources. As the budgetary impacts had been considered council had no problem accepting the recommendation. Councillor Greg McClinchey said “It seems like a good thinking- outside-the-box way of getting things done.” The program is offered to any North Huron resident with clay sewer pipes. At the May 5 council meeting, clerk-administrator Kriss Snell said that currently to have kennel status people had to have purebreds. After meeting with animal control officer Bob Trick as well as councillor Alma Conn, who is a veterinarian, Snell said there is “not necessity to maintain that requirement.” Noting that Conn had provided information on the Canadian Veterinarians Medical Association, Snell said, “It appears there is some leeway for mixed breeds.” In response to a question from councillor Greg McClinchey as to why the requirement was there in the first place, Snell said the issue was pitbulls. “By putting the purebred distinction in there pitbulls wouldn’t be allowed because they are not recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club.” In suggesting council approve the change, Snell added, “The intent of the bylaw should be animal welfare. That the breeder is meeting certain standards would be our primary goal.” NH reviews kennel bylaw By Bonnie Gropp The Citizen Sweets for the sweets A choice of desserts was the treat at the Londesborough United Church supper on Saturday night.
