Friday, May 9 the Missions
Conference Pass the Torch began at
Huron Chapel Evangelical
Missionary Church. There was
special music by the Martin family.
Ellen Krahn brought much
encouragement to those in
attendance. She is involved with
World Partners which is the Mission
organization involved with the
Evangelical Missionary Church of
Canada.
The El Salvador Mission’s Team
for 2008 took turns sharing their
motivation for joining this year’s
team. At the end of this year the
houses should all be completed in
the village where those returning
worked last year.
It is good to be able to share
resources with those who have so
little in this world.
Church news
The birthday ladies, Grace
Cartwright, Bernice Anderson, and
Hazel Craig (now of Goderich
Place), had plenty of celebrating the
first week of May. There have been
reports of parties with family and
friends.
Happy retirement wishes are
extended to Quincy Bridge from
your Auburn friends and
neighbours.
Saturday, May 10 at the Auburn
Riverside Campground there was a
yard sale and pancake and sausage
breakfast including strawberries and
whipped cream. Proceeds are going
to help to support Amie Scott who is
training to participate in an
endurance event as a member of the
Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s
team in training. She is raising funds
to help stop leukemia, lymphoma,
Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma
from taking more lives.
Amie must raise at least $4,000 to
participate in the marathon in San
Diego. There was a steady stream of
people all Saturday morning said
Marie Scott, (Amie’s Mom),
organizer of the event.
The Horticultural Society is
planning a work bee for May 20 at
Manchester Garden. They will have
a garden tour at the home of Klaus
and Rhea Seeger on Nile Rd. June 9.
Soccer camp is planned for Aug.
18 - 22.
For a cause
There was a breakfast served up for early shoppers at the yard sale in Riverside Park, Auburn
on Saturday morning to raise funds for Amie Scott’s training to participate in an endurance
event as a member of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. Aaron Hillis
and Alma Plant were on grill duty. (Vicky Bremner photo)
