After being granted the best week of his eight- year-old life by the Make A Wish Foundation, he has embarked on a local public-speaking tour that struck a chord with Make A Wish, who has asked Fritz to speak at engagements on behalf of the foundation. The Make A Wish Foundation included Fritz’s story on its website. It is featured as a special link that connects from the Foundation’s 25th anniversary story. They have asked Fritz if he’d be interested in speaking at events, possibly doing television and radio spots for the Foundation’s southwestern Ontario chapters, which would put him in markets as big as London. The Brussels Public School student accepted, and while he hasn’t been called upon just yet, he is ready when they need him. He says he was a little nervous when he first spoke to the Optimists, saying that he didn’t know there would be so many people, but that he shouldn’t be nervous speaking in London. Despite the inevitable fact that there will be more people in attendance, Fritz says the more he speaks, the more comfortable he has become with his presentation, so he isn’t worried about what the Foundation might throw at him. It is possible that Fritz might speak at anything from a golf tournament to a fashion show with media outlets somewhere in between. Fritz was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis when he was 18 months old. Fritz said he truly had a week that he will never forget, thanks to Make A Wish and through his presentations, he hopes to encourage people to give to the foundation. Heis eager to pay it forward, saying“People who support Make A Wishhave helped our family to makeamazing memories, and I am reallyexcited for the children who willhave their wish granted with the money raised.” The wish granted to Fritz and hisfamily comes in the 25th year of theFoundation. The website,www.makeawish.ca boasts that inthose 25 years, 3,000 wishes havebeen granted.Originally formed in British Columbia in 1983, two friends, Nigel Brown and Robb Lucy fundedthe first wish on their own, and it hasgrown ever since.Daniel’s story and pictures fromhis trip are available at theFoundation’s website, linked at theconclusion of the Make A Wish Canada celebrates 25 years story.
