North Huron councillor Greg
McClinchey informed his
colleagues at the May 5 meeting of
concerns regarding the railway
bridge in Blyth.
McClinchey said he had a number
of residents approach him recently
concerned about how the bridge is
being used. Of principalconcern are
the dirt bikers using the trail.
He asked that director of public
works Ralph Campbell and director
of recreation/facilities Pat Newson
look at the area with potential risk
management in mind.
“I’d like them to see if there’s
something we need to do. What can
we do to prevent a mishap or what
can we do to mitigate our
responsibility?”
Sorry to hear that Marion Machan
is a patient in Clinton hospital. We
wish her a speedy recovery.
Bodie Craig is recovering at home
from his second knee surgery.
Happy birthday to Les Caldwell
and Tony deCorte who will both
celebrate May 16.
Happy birthday to Gwen Papple
who celebrated her birthday and also
Mother’s Day on May 11.
BLYTH UNITED CHURCH
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Mother’s Day Sunday, May 11
were Terry and Barb Richmond.
Ushering were Karen Glousher,
Brenda Brooks and Terry Richmond.
Guest organist was Lynda
McGregor.
Guest speaker Bruce Whitmore
welcomed everyone to church. The
call to worship was repeated
followed by the first hymn, Come In,
Come In and Sit Down. The prayer
of confession and the assurance of
pardon were repeated in unison.
The choir anthem was Calm
Repose.
The children’s hymn, This is
God’s Wondrous World was sung
while the children came to the
front of the church. Jon
Hakkers read the minute for
Menesetung.
The Lord’s Prayer was sung and
Brett Glousher carried the candle
downstairs for the children’s time of
fellowship.
Scripture reading was Proverbs
31: 1-2, 10-31 and the
gospel reading was Matthew 18:
1-5.
Mr. Whitmore’s message to the
adults was MOM is WOW. Some
thoughts to ponder are “All that I am
or hope to be, I owe to my Mother. A
Mother’s love is the fuel that enables
a normal human to do the
impossible and God could not be
everywhere so He created
Mothers.
During May the Sunday school
will be doing a minute for
Menesetung to tell the
congregation about the history of the
camp.
