Sophie Jefferson read to the
members about St. Jean-Baptiste
Day, which is now celebrated as La
Fete Nationale on July 24 in Quebec.
The maple syrup that had been
heated on the stove had reached the
right temperature for taffy. Maisy
Jefferson got the snow she had
collected, and Jolande Oudshoorn
told everyone how to roll it onto
their stick. The members all loved
the taffy, and looked forward to
more yummy Quebecois food later
in the meeting.
Ellen Jefferson led the members
singing Savez-vous Planter les
Choux?, a song about planting
cabbages. Kristina Drennan showed
everyone the actions that she knew.
Mary Ellen told all the members
about how French storytellers passed
on many historical legends. Sophieread them one of these legends, TheDevil and Grand Baptiste, duringwhich the lightning struck at all theright times. When she was done, the pea soupand pudding chomeur, a traditionalFrench cake with a maple syrup
sauce, was ready. All the members
tried, and most loved the new dishes.
While everyone was eating, Mary
Ellen told the members about the
upcoming clubs, All the Worlds a
Stage and The Power of Produce. If
anyone was interested, they should
tell Mary Ellen soon.
She also reminded them of the
achievement on April 2 at an English
as a second language class in
Wingham. Reba Jefferson then
closed the meeting with the song she
and Ellen had written.
On Wednesday, April 2, the
Diverse Dolls met for the last time.
At their achievement, the members
learned about many different
cultures.
The members introduced
themselves and explained a bit about
