that sometimes rather than focusingon how much we are working, to payattention to “is what we are doing, effective?”The Olympians mid-weekchildren’s program is having a“dress as silly as you can night” thisweek, for April Fool’s week. OnApril 9 it will be red night.Knox United Church had a guest
speaker on Sunday. Bruce Whitmore
recently visited Mozambique on
behalf of the London Conference of
the United Church of Canada. He
witnessed tremendous poverty
where children had only sticks and
such to play with. The children are
usually able to get only one to three
years of schooling, and otherwise
they help with whatever work has to
be done.
They are in desperate need of
wells where he was. These people
wash their clothes on rocks with no
soap.
Despite their extreme poverty they
shared whatever little they had for a
parting gift. One person even game
him a live chicken which he held
throughout the rest of the service.
Whatever they could not keep his
group later gave to an orphanage.
The trip had a profound effect on
him, he said.
Church members are busy
preparing for their roast beef supper
