Livestock for the week ending
March 28 were 2,534 head of cattle,
421 lambs and goats. On Tuesday
fed steers and heifers sold $2 higher
on a strong active trade. Choice
steers and heifers sold $84 to $87
with sales to $87.75. Second cut
sold $81 to $84. Cows sold strong
$2 higher. On Thursday veal sold on
a steady trade. Lambs, sheep and
goats sold steady. On Friday calves
sold steady and yearlings sold $2
lower.
There were 299 steers on offer.

The municipality of Central
Huron reported its council
remunerations earlier this week.
Total remunerations come in just
under $150,000.
After the initial MOA, with
councillors receiving $5,000,
deputy-reeve John Bezaire receiving
$7,500 and reeve Bert Dykstra
receiving $11,000, councillors were
paid for their meetings, conventions
and mileage and expenses that
exceed $3,000 to be reimbursed by
councillors to municipality.
Dykstra netted $13,596.09 from
meetings, while councillors Marg
Anderson, Pamela Stanley and
Alison Lobb all had totals over
$10,000. Meeting costs totalled
$78,785.77 between the eight
members.
Conventions and mileage
expenses ranged from $1,627.76 for
councillor Tim Collyer up to
councillor Brian Barnim with
$4,045.21 with everyone else
totalling within the $3,000 to $4,000
range.
Expenses ranged from $29.93
from Stanley up to $1,045.21 with
Barnim.
Total costs per member ranged
from $14,867.80 from Barnim up to
$27,596.09 with Dykstra making for
a grand total of $146,913.60.
