Anne Grigg was the winner for the second time in a row. The Auburn Horticultural Society had a meeting on Saint Patrick’s Day, Monday, March 17. It was entitled Getting in the Green featuring Sylvia Nonkes of Spring Breezes Greenhouses ofRR 1, Auburn. Sylvia shared her expertise aboutpreparing for spring, and containergardens.Easter Sunday Jim and GraceCartwright enjoyed a visit from theirfamily Paul, Wendy and KelsyCartwright.Our sympathy extends to Mrs.Bernice Anderson, William Anderson, and Nancy and Greg Park with the passing of a cousin Mrs. Bella MacDonald from the Orkney Islands. Ted East, formerly of the Auburn area, recently passed away and our sympathy goes out to his family at this time. The East family resided where the Sturzenegger family now lives. KENNETH WILBERT CLARK MASON Mr. Ken Mason of Braemar Retirement Centre, Wingham, formerly of Wroxeter passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Saturday, March 22, 2008. He was 89. He was the beloved husband of the late Beulah Skinner who predeceased him in 1989. He was the dear father of Nancy O’Dell of Lipton, Saskatchewan, Wanda Mason and Earl Sargent of New Hazelton, B.C., Barry and Brenda of Stratford and Lorna and Bruce Williamson of Paris. He was the brother of Mary Campbell of Wingham, Lois and Jake Rae of Mississauga and Robert and Jessie Mason of Sarnia. Mr. Mason is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His parents John and Ethel (Clark) Mason, his son Peter in 2000, three brothers and two sisters predeceased him. Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham, on Monday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. A Royal Canadian Legion service was held in the funeral home on Monday at 7 p.m. The funeral service was held at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiated. Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery, Belgrave. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. MARIA (KÖLLER) WILTS Maria (Köller) Wilts of Exeter and formerly of Hullett Twp. passed away at Exeter Villa on Tuesday, March 18, 2008. She was in her 98th year. She was the beloved wife of the late Siebrand Wilts who predeceased her in 1978. She was the dear mother of Sieka and Teo Van Steeg of Ilderton, Martien and Janie Wilts of Londesborough, Margeret and Gabbie Mol and Gerrit and Reino Wilts all of Exeter, Siebrand and Maria Wilts of Cambridge, Henry and Susan Wilts of RR1,Auburn and Douwe and Jenny Wilts of Clinton. Maria will be sadly missed by her 28 grandchildren and 44 great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by grandsons Garry Wilts in 1985 and Michael Van Steeg in 1999, four sisters and two brothers. Friends called at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William St., Exeter on Friday from 2 - 4 nd 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service was held at the Bethel Reformed Church, 200 Huron St. E., Exeter on Saturday, March 22 with Pastor Jim Vellenga officiating. Spring interment will be in Blyth Union Cemetery. Donations to the Children’s Health Foundation would be appreciated by the family. A time of fellowship with hot- cross buns and muffins followed the service. On Easter Sunday there were several offerings of music throughout the service which included a ladies’ choir, a ladies’ trio, a beautiful piano offertory and Rev. Jeff Wood, Pastor Dave Wood’s brother, blessed the congregation with a solo. Pastor Wood mentioned in his sermon, that Easter was and still is about God reaching out to man and that Jesus is the hinge on which the doorway of history swings.
