The president, Nancy Jardin read Love is Patient and Kind and Hugging, then conducted a quiz. She mentioned that the Belgrave Branch of WI was begun 97 years ago. The program convenor, Audrey Fenton, introduced the speaker, Elly Brewster, from the Huron County Health Unit. She spoke on healthy hearts. She stressed the importance of exercise, proper diet and not smoking to help avoid heart attack and stroke. It is important to keep an up-to- date list of all medications taken, both by prescription and over the counter. The pharmacist is a very good source of information for both. She distributed a lot of information in booklets and was thanked for her presentation with a gift. The lucky chair prize was given to Ruth King. The business meeting began with the minutes of the previous meeting and treasurer’s report, given by Dorothy Coultes. An invitation was received from Community Living in Wingham to participate in a Club Fair to be held on Saturday, March 29 in Wingham. The members agreed to rent a table to promote WI, with several offering to take a turn during the afternoon and to contribute articles for the display. The roll call was answered by giving the number of volunteer hours. Plans were discussed for two caterings to be held in July. There will be a meeting on April 7 at the OMAF office in Clinton to make plans for the District annual meeting which will be held in Belgrave this year. The next potluck and meeting will be on March 18 with a program of music by community talent. Potluck mealbegins WI meeting Shhh! On a day away from the classroom some East Wawanosh Public School students spent the day outside on a real cold one Feb. 27 at the Wawanosh Nature Centre. Classes were split in half, one half strapped on the snowshoes and went for a hike and the other played one big game of tag. Jillian Montgomery discovered these three students hiding under a tree. Melissa Snyders welcomed the congregation. This was followed by the singing of hymns, This is the Day and Small Things Count. Andrea Shiell lit the Christ Candle assisted by Mrs. Snyders. The call to worship was read responsively and the gathering prayer was said in unison. The senior choir sang Soil of God,. You and I. After the singing of the children’s hymn, Fairest Lord Jesus, the children went to the front pew. Mrs. Snyders read a book entitled Hurray for You. It pertained to God creating everyone unique and people should celebrate all that God has given them. The children adjourned to Sunday school after The Lord’s Prayer. The scripture readings were Ephesians 2: 1-10, and Psalm 139, 1-6, 13-18. Other hymns that were sung were This Day God Gives Me and Breathe on Me, Breath of God. The title of Mrs. Snyders’ message was Mirror, Mirror. A mirror is used to see one’s self. People need to love themselves first, then love others around them. When they look in the mirror they see that they are created the way God wanted them to be. God knows their value and God thinks they are priceless. They never lose value, in God’s eyes. Michelle Burr and Doug Walker took up the offering. The closing hymn was Give to Us Laughter. Knox junior choir has started practising at 9:45 a.m. Sunday morning.
