Evans assisted. Then Avery McArter

For a volleyball team to be
successful on the court, they must
have a setter who understands the
game, his quick feet and excellent
setting skills as well as great court
sense.
The starting job to quarterback a
young Knights women’s volleyball
team was handed to rookie in
Kerrisa Van Amersfoort of Blyth.
The first year police foundations
student didn’t let her team down as
she not only set the ball but she also
contributed on offence finishing the
season fourth in team scoring with
46 kills, 31 service aces, 20 stuffed
blocks for 97 points while digging
up 51 kill attempts.
The 6'1" setter was recognized by
the Ontario Colleges Athletic
Association Western Region
opposing coaches for her
outstanding play on both ends of the
court and was named Western
Region Rookie of the Year.
Van Amersfoort and the Niagara
College Knights, finished the season
in second place in the OCAA
Western Region with a record of 10
and 5 before bowing out in the first
round of playoffs to Cambrian
College.

The Brussels Novice Reps played
Saturday against Milverton on home
ice during Brussels Minor Hockey

The game was intense as both
teams passed the play from one
end to the other in the hopes of
scoring.
Brussels was the first to score
with Wyatt Machan netting one,
then Delayna Smith netting one to
make it 2-0 with just 1:14 left on the
clock.
Milverton managed to score their
only goal with just two seconds left
at the end of the first period.
Determined to win the series,
Brussels went on to score five more
for a 7-1 victory. These were netted
by Logan Kellington with a hattrick,
Smith with her second, and Noah
Terpstra. They were assisted by
Machan, Smith and Kellington.

net.
